Something different !

I've had three V's in the past as well as a number of other "hot hatches" - i.e Golf Gti Mk 1- Mk2 - R32 - Rallye - Lancia Integrale - BMW Z3M Coupe - Alfa SZ Zagato - Abarth 595 - Peugeot 205 & 306 Gti so quite a number and variety. I've been looking for something a little different and found this...

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... 12/6808486

The chap I bought it from has a number of cars - Ferrari 430 Scud' - Aston Vanquish - Porsche 991 GTS - Mclaren something or other and reckoned the Audi was as fast in mid range acceleration as his Aston. I went for a test drive on Monday and put a deposit on it within two miles of starting the test drive. It's absolutely phenomenal - acceleration, handling, road holding etc etc and I think he's absolutely right regarding the mid range speed. Only 333 were made with 19 originally imported to the UK and apparently only 12 remain.

It was delivered at lunchtime so I managed a quick spin this afternoon - I've had a lot of cars and this is certainly up there with the best of them !

Sorry it not a V but I thought people may be interested.

Best Wishes

Steve

Cool car, but never understood how the A1 Quattro is different from the later and cheaper S1 release.

Limited availability aside aren't they the same car?

If only Audi would release a 5 pot RS version. :)

Nice one! I didn't even know they were made for production. I love the Turbine wheels on this car.

Audi should have made this one as the S1 and produced them in limited number. After all, many people associate the S1 name to the rally monster Sport Quattro S1.

Very cool indeed! Thanks for sharing. I love the look of them and to hear that they have the bite aswell makes it even cooler. Enjoy!

I was thinking of getting one of these a few months ago but you need to bolt it to the floor and weld the garage door shut ,and then they take the wall down to get them . Nice car though :approve:

That is a seriously cool little motor :approve:

Not normally a fan of forced induction, but can certainly see past that as it ticks so many other boxes.....well done.

Also, note that you have had an Integrale, Alfa SZ (and 3 Vees) in the past, so can see your rationale and attraction to quirky and/or one-off creations.

Great car Steve, considered one myself when they came out as I had followed it pre-production as a concept ... There is a production S1 Quattro now for anyone that wants to pay less and have RHD but lacks in power though at around 220, though a new model is reported to be a touch more I think around 20 more - still not enough. I like Audi still make them manual, basically as there is no room for DSG :race:

Thanks for sharing Steve I'm sure that will be lots of fun :race: I've always like the integrale myself and almost bought one back in '97.

I'm off to search the classifieds now [smilie=yay.gif]

Thanks for all the responses and good to hear from you Martin.

I had a yellow "Giallo Ginestra" Integrale which was a great car and I had it tuned up to 300bhp, I should never have sold it ! I still have the Alfa SZ Zagato which is away being tuned at present, as well as a new Abarth Competizione and an original 1971 RHD Fiat 500 which I'm having converted/rebuilt to full Abarth spec' ( Middle Barton Garage are doing the engine rebuild to double the power to 44bhp! ) also have a "Hot Rod" Datsun 240Z and a few other cars - as someone commented I like quirky off the wall cars - I prefer the Audi in LHD ( good thing really as they didn't produce it in RHD !) - I've not been very well recently and came out of hospital yesterday so had more time to put miles on the Audi today - did 60 miles this afternoon and it's absolutely fantastic and a real "Q car" and as my friend said due to the rarity you're more likely to see an F40 coming the other way !!!
