SNK on Ebay

Just noticed.....18psi (street) & 24psi (track).....no under the bonnet shot to show the mods to manage that kind of boost.....:-)

I saw that as well. I was a bbr car so anything could have been done.

I rang BBR a few years ago after acquiring a car they'd played with, it had documents to suggest a stage 3 BBR setup had taken place, I asked what had been done. They don't have records for anything that far back but put an old bloke on the phone who musta spent 40 odd mins going into detail. None of it was engine work, it was all ECU based.

I don't remember all the details of the conversation or more importantly how to translate it to text on here, suffice to say it meant 22-24psi was achievable and I remember the bloke saying, we offered a guarantee with it, we were that confident.

So I transferred all the bits to Smurf and have never split a liner, 'done a head gasket' and ALWAYS ran 21psi.....ask Lee and Tony on the way back from Le Chatre lol

It had a wire that came from the ECU plug, into the coil and then over to Amal valve (may have gone via the BBR over boost switch too) and 'old bloke' said this altered the injector pulse or something.....like I say it was 8 year ago and details are cloudy.

The last bit sounds about right. The amal valve is really just a pulse generator. The Cosworfs use them as well. Its a quick n easy way of creating a "bleed valve "

Sounds like it adjusted the ignition timing, and the boost level, as well as adjusting the fueling via the ecu.

If done right then you shouldn't split a liner.

You were in Lee's car on way home from Le Chatre.......lol - It had a leaky yet strong old lump in it and I sat at 20/21psi. It hadnt had a multi million Euro build either lol

However what you wrote is exactly what he said......

None of it was engine work, it was all ECU based.

Which pretty much proves the point that a good remap is all you need to get more out of an engine. And especially if it's had mods. This is the biggest reason why the 21 has never really achieved the high BHP figures everyone thinks it should have. Although i'm amazing a tuning company would suggest an engine runs @ 20 odd psi with a 2 bar map sensor...

I said to Dave last night, i'm really looking forward to the results Amrit gets.

Maybe I need to dig that megasquirt out of my draw and have a play... Oh god, I thought i was over all this.

Not half as much as he likes to feel the warm, fragrant waft of a certain person's sheriff's badge gasious discharge against his unknowing, sleepy face.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooooooooosssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. But I agree, I think he loved it really!
