Silverstone Classic 2021 Information

just watched parade lap with clios, great bit of commentary by Dulan - nice work fella - as they say......

Am quietly fuming i couldnt get there.....

so close and yet so far.... :(

Big thanks to all those involved in organising the club stand

Despite the random weather, I had a great day. Fantastic to see and hear a pack of Vee’s hammering down hangar straight :race: [smilie=yay.gif]

Thanks to Dulan and all those who organised! My mate brought his peeping-Tom camera (his name is Tom!):

Great thanks to Dulan for all the hard effort organising this event with the Silverstone bureaucracy!
You can have a very long rest now Dulan. :salut:

Thanks also to Hon for his help and patience with the anniversary banners artwork.

Pleased to see lots of enjoyment was had despite the British weather.

Hear hear!! James, Dulan has yet again delivered a superb event, brilliantly coordinated and communicated. Huge thanks for his dedication and determination after the disappointment of last year, credits also need to go to the team putting up the club gazebo as this was a great focal point and very much appreciated as a bolt hole to hide in during the less than perfect summer weather!
This led to a great turnout and a fantastic weekend was had by all, great to meet up with friends old and new. Superb parade lap on the Saturday, the rain stopped and a dryish track, great fun chasing the hairdressers in their S2000s :race:  definitely the highlight of the weekend for all of those who took part :approve:
Again thanks to Dulan and all those who supported him :approve: :approve: Hopefully this will happen again next year and we can get even more cars onto the pitch and give the Deloreans a run for their money

Thank you so much to Dulan and to James and the Tent Team. The organisation and support is greatly appreciated and gave us a home and a base for the three days.

Another brilliant Classic with the best Car Club of which I am a member (and I'm in a few) - despite the best efforts of the weather! To sit and chat with fiends after such a long time, and to enjoy the sights and sounds of the historic racing, plus look round at so many much-loved cars in the club areas is wonderful. I also love the chance chats I have with other enthusiasts - all there to soak up and share a love for classics and racing them. The "turf war" with the DeLoreans who did their best to overflow from their adjacent pitch was entertaining. How refined and on point does a Clio V6 sound when compared with the wheezing, missing and (sometimes) steaming older DeLoreans?

My daily commutes from and to Oxford were amongst some of the wettest I have ever done as the downpours that punctuated the racing at the circuit had spread south. A TVR leant up against a road sign on the Brackley bypass and a Transit van reverse parked in trees by the Croughton roundabout bore testament as to how torrential the rain had been and how treacherous the resultant standing water became.

Once home yesterday, it was a full evening catching up with the Hungarian Grand Prix coverage that Gill had recorded so I have to own up to not making much progress on house jobs today. I'll probably settle for sorting and washing the car and reading the paper!

Thanks again, everyone, and looking forward to next year already.

Just piling on to say thank you for the awesome coordination as well. It was great to meet so many people, translate internet handles into actual names and that lap of the track was great fun!

I'll post some photos up when I get a mo and i'm already looking forward to next year!

Andy

What a fantastic time we had at Silverstone Classic 2021 (aka The Classic), even though the weather was anything but! [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

Firstly, thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable event, especially the parade lap - I think everyone had a super time hooning the Vee when it was safe to do so! :race:

This was my 4th time on a parade lap (once in a 993RS and three times in the Vee), and definitely the best by a country mile. The weather was perfect and, thanks to the S2000 boys, we got to 'hoof' it a fair bit, which was quite apt after a 2-year hiatus. Cobwebs are definitely blown now... :)

It was great to meet up with everyone and put names to (new) faces and have a good catch up wth those I haven't met in a while.

A big thanks to James and the team who transported the marquee to and from Silverstone, and for the goodies that were left behind for us to enjoy. The marquee was put to very good use when the heavens opened, so much appreciated by all.

Lovely to meet you for the first time Honsta, and many thanks for the 20th Anniversary artwork - wish you had your Vee, and joined us on the day.

Some cool photographs have been posted up by Tom and Kett. Here is my attempt using my trusty Blackberry, so I am afraid no photos of us on the move:

Did anyone film the parade lap from inside their Vee?

Finally, here is a clip from the Livestream that features our Vees, which unfortunately was shot as we were leaving the track!
THE CLASSIC AT SILVERSTONE | DAY 2 | 2021 - YouTube (31 Jul 2021)

Do excuse the nut who was frantically trying to remember the stats, dates/periods and numbers of Vees built etc - thank you Simon (aka rustedandrotten) for putting me on the spot! They appear to have cut out the interesting tidbit where, when asked about a "certain motoring journalist owning a Clio V6", I explained how one Mr. Harris ran a Vee (now owned by floe.90) as a long-termer for a year.

Last but not least, it is a real shame that Dougieboy1 and floe.90 could not make it this year. Kett, you need to get ypur Phase 1 sorted soon - it would have blended in quite well on track on the Saturday!

Do we want to attend the event in 2022?

Just to repeat.

Huge thanks to Dulan and James for all the hard work they have put into making this happen.

The club stand would embarrass many “bigger” club. Outstanding

Unfortunately my dad had a bit of a new phone faux pas  , so we didn’t get much video of the lap at all.

I got a few pics of the stand and queuing for the lap which I’ll add

Was great to see everyone, and as already stated, the parade lap was great fun. :race: :race:

Hi Dulan.. I’m still about, with the BG. :race:

Great day out! Parade lap was the best bit of the day! Great to meet new people and old faces. The day went so quickly. Will have to come for longer next year and enjoy the whole experience to its fullest. Thanks to everyone who it all possible. I do have in car videos of hooning it! Great fun, missed getting the Vee out onto a track so a welcome reminder of the past experiences.

Hey Nas, good to catch up - do post up your in-car footage of the Parade Lap!

...and for those who were at the event on the Sunday (1st August), the irony of this Tweet will not go unnoticed, even though it is totally unrelated to the event in question. :violin:

Long overdue but great to meet you too, Dulan. Hopefully be at the 2022 event too.
