Silverstone Festival - The Classic 2023 (25th - 27th August) - Clio V6 255 (Phase 2) will celebrate its 20th Anniversary

Hope you make it Ali, be good to see you and the vee. Hopefully! I'd offer a seat but travelling down with my brother.

Hopefully I’ll still make it down after a visit to the garage this week. If I do, will we have the chance of a parade lap? From the the programme I’ve seen it’s a no.

Looking at the programme, there are some anniversaries of vehicles that are very well represented at the event. I’m guessing that they will hog the parade lap opportunity.

50:50 If I'll make it. Clutch/master cylinder or slave might be Gubbed!

Hopefully you can make it, be good to see you Ali.

Is anyone camping at the weekend ? On woodlands ? Be good to get together and grab a beer if so. I’ll be there from Friday morning
Oh, I’ve also got a spare camping ticket if anyone wants/needs one.

We are camping, but we are on the Golf club

I’m staying at the Purple Palace (Premier Inn) Silverstone. Way over-priced when big events are on, but I shared some cheaper booking information with members around January time. Impossible to walk to though… so a tent remains a class option! ;)

Slight problem. For one reason or another the Lunar can’t come…(long story) and no other Vee of mine is on the road…

However I still can come for both days…

I’ve got all my passes/tickets etc.

Am I able to come in my 996 GT3 (speed yellow with freshly refurbed speed yellow wheels :-)) and park on the V6 club stand?

That is a pity, George. Was looking forward to seeing the Lunar :(

I am afraid since it is not a Renault, we will not be able to accommodate the GT3 in the Clio V6 display area - strict criteria were applied to even Renaults to only include those models that are of significance, more so since it is the Phase 2's 20th Anniversary.

Forget my last post. I’ll be in the Lunar then. Will explain the situation when I see you :approve:

Please aim to arrive before 9:00 am, especially on Saturday (26th), so that we can comfortably maneuver our Vees into place (remember the Vee's turning circle).

Silverstone's rules with regards to vehicle movement are shown below:

VEHICLE MOVEMENT
Given the large public spectator levels at the Silverstone Festival, there is to be no car club display
vehicle movement between 09:00 and 17:30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
. Therefore, to ensure
that your members gain access to your club stand, they must arrive before 09:00 and do not leave
before 17:30.

Should a vehicle be found driving around the event site during 09:00-17:30 on Friday, Saturday
and Sunday it may be ejected from the event and re-entry for the vehicle and driver may be
denied.

There will be no entry (or re-entry) for car club VEHICLES with a vehicle display pass after
17:30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Vehicles can be left overnight in the display area, but they must have a valid vehicle display pass
for the following day.
If the vehicle owner has a weekend car club package and has
accommodation nearby, it may be beneficial to leave the display vehicle in place from Friday to
Sunday to help with traffic management and limit vehicles moving around the site. No vehicles
must be left in the display area overnight on the Sunday. Vehicles are left at the vehicle owner’s
risk.

See you all at Silverstone... :approve:

Hopefully see a few of you over the weekend!

Another great Silverstone Festival (Classic) weekend with ClioV6.net friends. Our cars certainly attracted attention from the many, many passers by,

A massive thank you to all who contributed - particularly to Dulan and Simon. I hope everyone had a safe and pleasant journey home.

Hi! I was the owner of the Petrol Blue 182.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of the group for having me on your stand! It was a great day (apart from the weather), I'm sure people were shocked to see how wide the V6's are compared to the regular bodied 182.

I hope to join you again some day. Cheers!

Fantastic colour, think one of my favourites!

As expected the turnout at Silverstone Festival 2023 was quite excellent. It was great to meet some of you for the first time.

Even though we did not have a parade lap this year, I am sure everyone enjoyed the sights, sounds, and smells to get a feel of what this event is all about. Do post your thoughts and experiences, especially those who made it for the first time (in their Vee).

For me, test-driving an Alpine A110S (AL18PNE) was one of the highlights of this year's event.

James' (en6jwrs) Clio V6 Trophy looked so right, and so at home at Silverstone - utterly fantastic! :approve:

Henri (HAP), it was nice meeting you, and seeing your Petrol Blue 182 Cup, which allowed us to imagine what a similar coloured Vee would look like. :approve:

A big thank you must go to Simon H. (rustedandrotten) for driving down all the way from Aberdeen hauling his Vee and transporting the club marquee - even a blowout on one of the trailer's wheels did not stop him! :salut:

Thank you to (Kett), his mate Dave, Tony (REM13), Simon M. (Sunbeam Lotus), Ben (BREMBO), his brother, and Neil (cleedubber) for lending a hand with the setup and take down of the club marquee.

Looks like quite a few pictures have been posted already. I have added some too.

Last but not least, here is something that really caught my eye - would love to have one:

Very enjoyable event to attend yet again!

I think the V6 stand (with ‘select buddies’) remains a great crowd-pleaser. It does certainly remind how very rewarding ownership can be. Big plus was the best location that we’ve ever been granted to date.

The historic circuit racing was excellent, as was the evening music entertainment. Weather was actually ok, though we were spoilt last year.

Being part of the setting up team was an eye opener and it was all too apparent how much heroics the organisers undertake. Thank you guys!

Finally, it’s probably worth remembering that all ‘Renault Sport’ cars are now destined to be the subject of history books. Great to see the V6 members still flying the flag!

I had great intentions of being prepared this year which included a roof box. Night before the bolt rounded. Frustrating. Thought a V6 with a roof box was fitting for the camp site.

Second year for me and my brother (non-petrol head) felt better prepared this year, where to go, breakfast, bars etc and probably being a bit ocd, where to clean the car. Although sounds like Iain done well, here! I also took an Alpine S out, was brilliant. Sure, test drives were a new thing. Polestar and few other electrics seemed to offer test drives. Sign of the times.

Enjoyed the Diddly Squat shed and going into the Silverstone auction, always a good buzz then the track time. Tried focusing some more time on this. Then the wonder about, some real rarity about. That's what I love about it.

Personally, I'd definitely recommend trying to stay walking distance. It's not just a car show.

Goodwood is on the list for me at some point. Whether this is with or without the V. May scupper next year but will certainly try.

As already mentioned, big thanks to Lankan / rustedandrotten and meeting you all.
