Less than 2 weeks to go before Car Club Discount (CCD) packages are withdrawn for the final time at midnight on 31st May.

We now have 24 confirmed cars over the 3-days, with a majority booked for Saturday (27th). It would be great if we can have a few more join in, especially Phase 1 Vees. Mars Red Vees are also conspicuous in their absence.

matt.v10 and martinr82 can you please confirm if you are attending the event? Your names weren't on the latest update I received from the organisers on 12th May. As of now (20:00 hrs on 19th May) There still are CCD packages for all days except for Saturday (27th), the day of the parade lap. However, Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday CCD packages are still available, as are Friday only and Sunday only tickets.

CCD packages were meant to be withdrawn at midnight on 31st May, but (as of 00:35 on 2nd June) are still for sale!

If you haven't been before, then do try to visit the auction - viewing times are Friday (26th) 09:00 to 18:00 and Saturday (27th) 09:00 to 14:00. Auction starts soon after 14:00 on Saturday.

You will get to see examples such as the following:

"Competition / Rally
This incredible Group B, 1985 MG Metro 6R4 is one of kind; with just seven miles on the clock and still coated in factory wax, it is unlike any other. It was a popular exhibit at Donington Park museum and has been with the current owner for the last 16 years. Estimate: (£) 200,000 - 240,000
"

My GP lived next door to one of the Austin Rover works mechanics. He bought a Metro 6R4 when they were all being sold off by the factory in 1987 - at £11,000! He only used it a tiny amount (it made a horrible road car) and sold it after ten years or so - for nowhere near £200,000

I've been lucky enough to have done three rallies in 6R4s as a co-driver so they hold a rather special place in my heart. My Vee gives me some of the experience, but the 6R4 scream at 10,750rpm cannot be replicated.

Sorry mate, I dropped the ball on this one as I have been so busy. As the time has now passed for CCD I shall not be attending this year, which is a shame.

Have fun at the event all.

Martin, yes, 3-day CCD packages are long gone now - only Sunday was available when I looked last. I took you off the list around on 19th May as I didn't hear back (a few posts above this one).

What’s the situation when turning up at the weekend? Is it easy to turn up and get to the V section? I am there Saturday and Sunday.

It’ll be easy once we know our allocated location. It’s very well organised, so no need to over think it. Dulan will let us know everything we need.

UPDATE

Infield/display passes have gone to print so should be sent out in the next 2 weeks. They include a map for reference on the back, which will show where our infield display area is located and the entrance to use.

I will be sent instructions and disclaimer forms related to our parade lap via email, which each participant needs to sign and handover on Saturday (27th). I will upload these documents in this thread once I receive them, so keep an eye out for an update closer to the date.

Under four weeks to go, and the only thing we need on the day is good weather........... :race:

UPDATE

Everyone should receive their Infield Display Passes and Parade Lap Signing-On Sheet + Instructions either today (6th) or by early next week. For those who wanted to drop off their Vees on Thursday (25th) evening, set-up passes and wristbands should also be included in the document pack.

If you haven't received your pack by the end of next week please PM me with your Booking Reference and Registration Number.

Where’s our spot / grid reference?
We will be parked up in Green 16's north-east corner (J11), which is great to watch the racing action and the concert area and beer stalls.

Very much where we were in 2017.

which was a total disaster next to the tyre squealing Jaguar Autotest where you couldn't even speak to someone standing next to you because of the noise so I REALLY hope we are not set up next to that again otherwise it needs a swift complaint to the organiser now to get us moved Lankan

There was nothing of that ilk last year.
The area was for clubs only.

I think the organisers need to be informed that the Vees have poor ground clearance. Hard standings are far more agreeable for the marque. I guess we’ve now got a bloody good reason to pray for good weather - however, the recent dry spell has probably done the trick to properly firm up the ground.

Hey guys, let's not panic!

Last year we were parked up in Green 15 now designated as Green 17, smack bang next to the tyre-squealing F-Types, and squeezed in between the NSXs and the Ultimas. This year we have our own little corner on the opposite side, towards the track, right up against the chainlink fence bordering Wellington/National Straight. As such, I don't believe we will be affected by whatever goes on in that area since the roar of the race cars will be heard above all else, and I do not think tyre smoke will be an issue this time either. No tyre-squealing F-Types this time, but an Abarth Autotest, and, if it's a proper autotest, I suspect sliding around and losing time will be the last thing those who are taking part will wish for.

2017 was also the year we were next to the hooligan test and next to the NSX but I don't know about last year as refused to repeat the horrific experience. I hope this year is not the same as 2017.
