Silverstone Classic 2018

Who's going this year..!?

Although the gaffer has said there will be no official club meetings for 2018, I just wondered if a few of us wanted to get together for a more informal pitch this year.

Lankan, how do you feel about picking up the baton again without the marquee? If not... anyone else?

Early bird tickets end on 31st March..!

For anyone thats not been before, please click on the event link below for more details and info on this great event. :salut:

SILVERSTONE CLASSIC 2018

Unfortunately we will be away that weekend Shaun.

For anyone who hasn't been, it's one of the 'must-do' events of the year. You will not regret it.....

Thanks for the reply Dulan.. Hope you have a great time where ever you’re going. Shame you’ll not be around for Silverstone this year..

Best..

Shaun

I’ve booked accommodation (albeit in Milton Keynes!) and time off to do all three days. I was going to try to ‘tag’ on to another club but would’ve been happier to participate with a proper Vee get together.

Excellent... I plan on doing the 3 days as usual.

We accommodated some fellow Dieppe cousins last year, so perhaps they'd return the favour this year.. if they were to have a stand. What will you be coming in Kett..? Acid or Dub..? :)

Acid. :approve:

Are the historic Alpines likely to attend? Would be good to have a new A110 present!

Hope you guys have a great time. Shame to miss it this year, but made other plans when I got to know that the club wasn't going to attend any events this year.

Thanks Dulan, your presence will be missed!

Real shame 'the club' decided we are not to attend any events this year.... What ever can be arranged, we'll be trying to fly the v6Clio.net flag :approve:

Have a great holiday! :)

With James' permission..

If any of you wish to attend this event with your car, please post your interest in this thread ASAP!

The options seem to be we go it alone without the support of the club's events team.. but as 'members or v6Clio.net' or.. (what i believe to be our closest relevant club..) talk Renault Alpine Owners Club into having a stand this year and ask for our cars to be together.

If you have any further idea's or suggestions, please speak up.. we have very little time to get this sorted out.

Many thanks..

Shaun

Let me know if you need any help in getting it organised Shaun.......

Also, Club Alpine Renault wanted to know whether their members could join us, as they did last year, so pm me an email address and I will forward that request.

I can’t see any thread on RAOC regarding potential involvement...

Trying to talk Stephen in to it... do we have official club support if we arrange it outside the events team? Are we allowed to use 'our' club name?

Any volunteers to sort it out..?

I think Stephen may be speaking to C.A.R. to see if they want to put up a stand this year.. as he's going to be involved in other things close to the date of this event.

I'm not so sure I'm the right person to be taking this on following my systematic removal from the the events team last year, no discussion or explanation given. Ho hum...

Happy to help if anyone would like to take the lead, its a great event.. and a 'must attend' at least.. once for any self respecting petrol head. The static display of cars is immense, but is totally over shadowed by the classic cars on track throughout the entire weekend ..! :race:

Hi Shaun,

I fear we’re leaving this a little late in the day to meet the deadline.

There are ‘other’ options but there seems to be nothing particularly Alpine/Renault.

When I visited last year, Noyzboy was in attended with his Rx7 with Sporting Bears - a Wacky Races Group with some nice machinery which raises money for charitable purposes. I assume they’d be happy to take on more members.

I am eligible to attend by joining the Masonic car club.

Not really my scene, but sometimes needs must...

I think the halcyon days of getting many Vees to an event are long gone. In my mind, the role of V6Clio.net is more ‘intellectual property’ and it’s existence remains relevant and key. I would still expect V6Clio.net to attend certain events where a hardcore quorum have expressed a willingness to commit.

I (for one) thought that OrigineRS would be the umbrella brand to bring classic sporting renaults / alpines together?

C.A.R had two Alpines attend last year, plus the red Spyder (RAOC member).

Registration is still open, but the deadline for Earlybird ticket availability is rapidly approaching (closes on 31st March, prices then go up a fraction so not the end of the world). The registration process takes a couple of days. If you are intending on erecting a marquee then you need to ensure that indemnity insurance is purchased as they will ask for this during registration.

I can only echo Shaun's comments and just say," if you haven't been to one, then this is an event that one must attend, at least once". For those who haven't been yet, here are the links to some previous events: 2017, 2016 & 2015 (the year we were allowed on track in the pouring rain to celebrate the Vee's 15th anniversary and the Club's 10th!) :race:

An alternative is, as Kett mentions, is to join another club......

Hey Kett,

I agree that time is running out for something to be arranged... However, that fat lady is yet to sing.. so I'll keep on at the other 2 clubs that have accepted the hospitality of v6Clio .net in the past, in the hope they might reciprocate the favour :)
I had considered a stand under the Origine RS moniker, but as Dulan quite rightly points out in his post, we'd have to arrange insurance.. and to be fair, its not really what ORS was about. Its an event in its own right, and the club scene already accommodates for our cars.

Thank you very much for your continued confidence and support for Origine RS, and your thoughts of it as the "umbrella brand to bring classic sporting renaults / alpines together". :salut:

Hi Dulan,

Not a huge amount of interest in this from club members this year, so fingers crossed one of the Alpine clubs steps forward.

Lets see what what happens.. :salut:
