Silver Quadra

Right up early AGAIN, lol no rest for the wicked. I am very pleased as the end is drawing closer, ulimately they are now finished so heres the progress report for today.

The jacking point tacked up but you will notice a small gap, I say small but when you got to fill it with weld its quite large!!

Didnt get any more pics after that but here she is finished with a part cover of underbody sealant.

It was covered all over and will as before get a second coat in the morning, nice and thick.

Then dad decided to fill the bottom edge of the sill instead of farting about welding again, and included a nice drain hole.

It will be filled and shaped before the skirt goes back on. It was my task then to get the Waxoyl out and spray everything I could, man this is a messy thing to do, but quite a cool product. Then dad moved onto inside the car, the inner sill wall to floor had a nice gap so he decided he would fibre glass it.

And while we waited for this to cure we went to the local brewery for a cheeky beer, FOC ofcourse  We got back and it was still only tacky so he decided to dig out the rear door shut/arch and I cured it for rust ready for some more filler.

Messy but just in there to build it up, it got a second layer after dinner but I havent got pics yet. Meanwhile I decided to tackle the front brake lines as the originals are pretty bad and my MOT tester matey highlighted that they would probably fail. Replaced with Goodridge braided.. niiiice.

They probably wont be on there long due to pending big brake upgrade. Anyhow getting there slowly..

Where did you get the braided brake lines from Dan ? ...

Keep up the good work ..

I actually cant remember lol, somewhere online.. they been sitting around for 2 years originally got them for my red car!
The only problem being I can only use the fronts as its a kit for a 2wd and this is a quadra.

I tried last night but you are limited to 10k characters and 10 pictures so thought **** that. I was going to add my last update to my original post but exceeded the allowed 12k characters

Facepalm

But if you can tweak the settings to allow more juice then yes go for it

Tweaked.

I cant think of anything it will fail on, bar the hand brake efficiency. Although I was told hand brakes are never tested on 4x4 due to risk of breaking the transfer box.

My usual friendly tester is stuck in Pakistan so I got some temporary new guy ...he better not be strict

hmmm couple of hours then I'm bunking off work for a bit, still got to put the nearside interior trim back on, rear seat clips in, put a cable tie through each side skirt to stop them coming off (although unlikely). Put the passenger seat back in, drive her down my road and pray the ABS is still working, try and bed the brakes in. Get the key cut as I only have one, and the alarm plays silly buggers and locks door automatically sometimes - stupid Clifford! Could probably do with a splash of fresh fuel too.

Feel kinda on edge, mainly cause I dont want to have to fart around to a deadline, ie the retest allowance. Once tested I can take my time with the other niggles before FCS and whatever else is coming up.

well, she failed...on

rear pads being below - MOT tester is blind because they are near enough brand new.. idiot

track rod ends excessive play - got some spares to use for the time being but ordering in some fresh ones from Renault on Monday.

horrible metal on metal sounds as you drive though, not sure where its coming from. First thoughts were wheels rubbing but they are fine. Maybe ****ed centre bearing causing prop to drag on the outter casing but wont know until I investigate.

So all in all not too bad..retest next week I guess..
