Seen this one for sale, any thoughts?

I’ve messaged the owner of this car
[v6]311[/v6]
It’s been off/on sale for a couple of times.
His name is Matty Evans, not sure if he’s a forum member or ever has been. He’s asking £35k

Looking at the register I can see the car was Cat-D, (thanks for access to this resource, it’s brilliant) I know minor damage can write off a v6, what are your thoughts re it’s price though? When I first wanted a vee they were around £8-10k for a ph1, it’s taken a bit of getting used to the inflation! I’m not in any major rush to buy a car and can wait for another to come along if it’s not right.

I’ve also seen a v6 cup style tribute sold by a dealership, this one seems to have been for sale a while also, it looks to have some nice bits, cromodora wheels and the front and rear spoilers. Not sure if I ‘m sold on all the stickers/wrap. It was sold a few weeks back then came back up for sale again with the same dealership (Arun) it’s advertised for £34k although I don’t know the build number. I’m really mostly concerned about getting it up my fairly steep driveway and navigating country roads in Somerset. Can KW V3’s be adjusted to achieve near standard height without compromising handling?

Thanks all for any thoughts, hope you’ve all have a good break over the festive season.

Rich

Where’s the advert for it mate?
I’d say £35k could be a tad expensive for one in the register but like you say it’s not hard to write one off, also it’s not as bad a thing on older cars imo.

It would depend on mileage, condition, service history and last cambelt change etc.

I have V3s on mine and it’s easy enough to adjust the height without compromising the ride.

Thanks for the reply mate. It was on ebay but he pulled the advert due to being unsure about selling.
I think the milage is just about 35k. It’s not got a MOT presently which I’d need him to get done, history seems clean though. If I’m honest it’s a concern dropping £35k into a private sellers account, my GTR was only £25k a few years ago but even then I had a twitchy bum transferring the money on the day.
Not sure on cambelt, it’s been done a couple of years ago ( I think) I reached out to SG, which is where it had its belt done apparently, but not had a reply.
I think collectors (it sits unused) would want the cleanest lowest mileage clear history car for top money. I’m not buying as an investment. The one I spotted parked up had 130k on it, that would be ok for me!.

I really do want a vee, I always have. I can’t really find anything else I’d rather have over one, perhaps other than another R32 GTR, they vary greatly in price too. Unlike the V6 though there’s some (mostly) tired and rotted out examples around.

These cars have a very small market . it's a marmite car , If you look on any forum you will see them get called slow/ heavy / don't handle ect ect . I gave up trying to sell mine a few years ago and just put it away . That tribute car is known on here ! you may want to do some homework on it . I know of a cat d or c car if you are after one .

For the low miles and if the history is good as it seems I’d say it’s worth it.

I’ve been tempted to sell mine recently but like you I’ve always wanted one and love driving it.

I recall from the thread the replica on the bmw forum it being bashed at some point, perhaps unrecorded and had some panel replacement / repair work but no photos prior to the accident. If you are willing to point me toward any info about that car that’d be very much appreciated.

I mostly ignore comments about performance / handling. I think perhaps they are missing the point of the clio v6, I like them despite it. The v6 (at least to me) is more about the general driving experience and having an opportunity to own a bit of Renault history.

I will say I’m not overly bothered about cat registered cars / insurance work, so long as it’s been put right correctly and the price reflects it so I’m not going to get into difficulty if I have to sell.

Please let me know if something is available that might be of interest. I’ll be honest I’m not in some major rush with things as work/looking after my lad take up so much of my time. I probably would buy something if it was the right car now, but equally I am happy to wait.

I think the race rep car is 445 i believe if you search there is pics of repairs on here . i can get you a number for a cat c or d car that was for sale earlier in the year but didn't sell if you want his number .

Thanks for the info, managed to find the car, again the forum is a great resource for info on these cars.

It might be worth passing on the owner’s email or number you mention & any pics you have of it for the time being.
Thanks again mate.

Dropped you a DM Rich, toying with the idea of selling my Phase 1, its not advertised currently, I cant bring myself to write an ad! (or deal with the inevitable general public)

Big belt service last year, new brakes, tyres, phase 2 wheels, nice seats, all the right OEM+ bits. Full thread of the last few years here Clio V6 thread
