Running rough

Been having some problems with the running of the car.

Between 1-1.5k rpm the car is jumpy and stutters a bit.

After this and on part throttle goes ok, if you put your foot right down then it sounds like the car hits a rev limiter but it still accelerates albeit not as fast.

Fitted new Sierra Cossie plugs that were recommended from some people on here a whie back along with some new bosch leads, have re-gapped the plugs 3 times but car still running the same.

What do I try now?

Have you tried putting the standard plugs back in Daz ?

Standard plugs were fried mate, but I'm going to invest in another set of original plugs or anything recommended to be sure.

Got any spare coil packs?

Nah Dave I do not, you reckon that could be a problem, are they easy to source/cheap etc?

Would you have any spares in your massivvvvve stash?

Meant to add, the lumpiness under 1.5k rpm has disappeared, still got the on boost problem though which starts to happen specifically around 8psi.

Not got any mate, since the Quadra fried one (literally!) and it melted everywhere.

Driving it on 2 cylinders was.....interesting....

That's ok, Roddy said he may let me try the packs from his car, as long as it's relatively easy to do and won't damage his car in any way?

Tried the coil packs from Roddy's car today, still having same problem.

So far have now changed, plugs, leads, temp sensor, coil packs.

Car goes fine when cold, as it starts to warm up it misfires/stutters over 8psi, once fully warmed up it constantly misfires/stutters over 8psi, kind of like a rev limiter noise, under 8psi car runs perfect, Roddy may be able to explain this better now that he has heard it as well.

Any more ideas chaps?

And you changed the coils so it's not that.

Next try the crank sensor, then the coil control unit. And leads.

It really sounds spark related, what plugs are they again?

mmm

Is the car a phase III ? If so it will not like the plugs your running. Personally i would only recommend the renault/equium spark plugs for the phase III.

Yip Craig, Daz's 21 is a Ph3 mate ... its running a bigger turbo than the standard one aswell ...

Anybody got a Renault part number for there plugs ? ..
The last time i went in to get some from Renault the guy said there were 8 different types of plugs for my 21 !!!!! ... twas a pain in the ass so i just got some NGK's from Partco instead ...

NGK-8, R7232-8,

these plugs are a bit expensive but i have never had any probs,
