Twingo Ricardo's Twingo 133

I liked the black badges, but you're well rid of the rest!
You can tell it was owned by a 20 something 😁 I kinda didn't mind the badges to be fair but when i peeled off the vinyl and cleaned them I think it looks better for it. I think if they were an anthracite I'd probably have left them so I might buy some vinyl at some point just to try it. I do like it OE looking though.

Noemi know the exterior has been organised I'll turn my attention to the engine bay, I popped the bonnet to too up the windscreen washer bottle and the airbox is rattling about with what seems like the inlet pipe holding it in place. Battery terminal is missing the red cover so it's another trip to Renault parts. I know we have the online parts pages here but I can't work out the code for the Twingo RS to see the relevant exploded parts diagrams.

Popped up to Hertfordshire to see good friend Mark, it's not often we have the chance for one to one chats. Usually we're attending local cars n coffee meets crossing paths taking photos and chatting in a small groups so it's always nice to take him up on the opportunity to visit his workplace where we can have a decent catch up on what we've been up to.

He's had a small run of headlight correcting and the Twingo was next in line, it also gave me the opportunity to use the ramp to inspect it underneath. Thankfully it's looking solid bar a couple of minor jobs.

Drivers side CV boot changing
Both inner wheelarch liners need replacing
Lower front plastic trim attached to liners

Both foglights were unplugged so they were reconnected.

It also gave me the chance to confirm what the original bill of sale was showing that indeed it has cup pack suspension, purple strip on the rear dampers, orange on the fronts. I'm debating whether to purchase a new set as they're more than likely the originals and it's done 118k. I'm slightly surprised at the prices though! A full set is £460, I'll speak to my parts guy to see if he can do any better so I'll leave that for now.

Anyway let's get back to headlights, I let Mark crack on with the wetsanding, compounding, polishing while I did the big job of changing the passenger side wing mirror glass. Found a quid under the drivers mat and cleared out the root left behind from the previous owner.

Popped in to Renault parts for these, seems that my hunch was right! The drivers wiper blade hits the lower plastic trim and the passenger wiper blade only clears 2 thirds, so they've fitted the wipers the wrong way and the smaller one was too small.

This is why I buy genuine parts, half the time they're actually on par with or cheaper than other places and you know you're having model specific parts. Plus the little touches like having the brand name on them too.

on the side of the standard airbox is a rubber blanking plate, remove it (y)
The link pipe is missing that connects to what I think is the carbon canister, for an OE airbox it actually sounds like an old school Valver with a massive induction kit!

Part 2 of the roof rack situation, cross referenced the info from Halfords

And went straight to FB Marketplace, £30 from a chap 20 minutes away from me. So it's just the roof rails to buy.

While at my sisters I remember having the original aerial from the Mégane RS, the screw in is a straight swap, in much better condition and shorter

I’m just working thru the same roof rack puzzle on my Clio. So far I’ve found that ANY 118mm roof bar will fit, doesn’t have to be the exact one mentioned online.

Got a pair of Evo Wingbars and they fit the front great. Waiting for a bracket to get the rears on..

What brackets are you having to use on the rear? Just trying to work out how they'll work on the Clio with the glass and roof.

As the wheels are being refurbed I was thinking of buying these to rid the rusty OE wheel bolts and lockers. I'm pretty sure these are the right thread pitch and measured the OE thread length at 25mm but just wanted to double check before clicking the 'Buy It Now' button.
