Megane Ricardo's Budget Track 225

Blanking plate has arrived, pretty quick on the delivery. So, is there a guide on fitting it? Hoses the sort etc. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it or where it even goes but want it fitted. :D

@Ricardo it's easy to do, the vac pipe that goes to the existing re-cirv valve just trace it back and just cut and cap it off/ blank it (Worth doing this last once you have the plate in situ just in case you have removal issue's).
Location of the blanking plate just a case of removing the exisiting re/circ valve of the compressor housing of the td04, it's fiddly to remove the existing one but it's only 3 bolts think they are 10mm from memory. And then just a case of cleaning surface of where existing re/cirv valve was and then install the blanking plate.

Blimey, that doesn't sound too hard to do. Thanks for that mate

So, another run out for the Megane and this time another rolling road day. This time a trip around the M25 to the Surrey Rolling Road facilities, after the power runs on the Dynodaze rolling road I wanted a 2nd opinion to see the difference in figures from 2 different rolling roads. Now I do know that with every or at least 99% of RR facilities, the figures should be crudely taken with a pinch of salt for which I am a firm believer.

The bigger picture in all this is the map it has on there from the CS16 weekender. Let's say between 260-270bhp, let's say with this particular map that it should be those figures (ignore the pinch of salt for now please) From the Dynodaze RR in Leicester it produced 234hp and 270ft/lbs. Yesterday on the Surrey rollers it produced 243bhp and 240ft/lbs, I now have a comparison with the obvious big difference in the torque figure and the bhp down on the supposed 260.

Yes, I know there's plenty of variables. To be fair the Meg seems to drive quite well for how it is, Surrey were able to read the fuelling only which happened to be pretty good. It was a shame they couldn't read anything as it literally was 2 power runs each and over 20 cars there to get through. The next step, I'm gonna hook it up to CLIP to read everything. Boost, how the engine is breathing, maybe it can read the ignition timing. It's mapped for 1.2bar. Another option is to take to a more local RR like Track N Road Powerformance near the M25 and pay for it to be hooked up to get absolutely every reading such a peak boost at RPM, ignition timing, AFRs so we have definitive results.

It's not me being pi55ed off with it, it's just an insight into how healthy (or maybe not) everything is and just a want to know how it all works and how it's all doing. Everything's for a reason, I'd just like to have a better understanding of how all the parts work together to put out the end result.

@Ricardo I'm down south next Saturday if you want that blanking plate fitted, and/or someone else to cast an eye over your engine. Likewise if you wanted to put it on Track n' Road rollers then as well?

Can also bring along Clip if you want anything checking/amending.

@Mart I don't think I have anything planned next Saturday, I take it you'll be about from the morning onwards? CLIP can definitely help, it can read boost for a start which helps as Arthur mapped it at 1.2 bar so it should show there. I can give Track N Road a call to see if they're open on a Saturday. Definitely appreciate the help with the blanking plate.

@tutuur we'll get to the bottom of this :D

Yep, I can be about Saturday morning.

I've also got an obd dongle I can plug in to read real-time sensor values etc, but can bring Clip as well.

Let me know before Friday if you want a hand.

I would be wary of taking boost readings off the obd dongles. Torque pro said the boost pressure was spiking to 24 lbs on shez's meg when in reality its only 19-20lbs on a proper gauge:D
