Megane Ricardo's Budget Track 225

Last time we see the trusty pov spec seat, I'm actually gonna miss it for how it's helped me keep the Meg on the road these last 2 weeks. bits all to be thrown away, wires all taped back.

I had the chance to pop into Renault this afternoon so I bought 2 new rear exhaust brackets and ordered the centre bracket and drivers side top engine mount. The 2 rear mounts were in stock, the other parts will be in Renault for Thursday. For what it's worth it's probably easier for me to drive to an exhaust place to have them fit the brackets on a ramp, ten minutes work in exchange for beers tokens hopefully :)

I'll also the order the swivel bearings so I have them ready and waiting to be fitted.

Also, can anyone tell me the thread size for the harness eye bolt? There's 2. I have ones with 8.8 stamped in the side but assume that's the high tensile strength, I need the smaller threaded eye bolts. Any help would be appreciated then I can order a few from EBay. IMG_3352.webp

@Ricardo You want Pipercross Universal Air Filter 80x200x200 C0187 VAUXHALL ASTRA VXR 2.0 TURBO one buddy.

Ran it on mine. Good for well over 300bhp ..
Makes a great hoover noise as well
Aaah ok, do you have pics of it fitted? I'm looking to move the battery in the boot, I don't want to say too much about my ideas just yet I just need wield the tape measure in the engine bay and measure the alternative to see the physical size between the OE box and what I have.

Look in my build thread buddy.

Popped into Renault to pick up the centre exhaust bracket and the engine mount, as mentioned I've also ordered a pair of swivel hub bearings from TR. Alex is also ordering new rotation links too. I think then, mechanically that should be about it. Other things to be done would be the Sabelt steering wheel, cruise bracket wiring and sort the radio which TR member Andy Bond has. The last pic shows the eye line sitting in the Sabelt seat.IMG_3355.webp IMG_3353.webp IMG_3354.webp IMG_3350.webp

Took the Megane out for it's first half decent drive last night, it's a tad quick and all a bit effortless. The negative camber and toe out really tunes the car in on the corners, for fear of going too crazy I short shifted 2nd gear out the corners into 3rd and let that pull the car. It does have a nice induction kind of suck to it on hard revs, the previous owner mentioned it had an aftermarket filter fitted.

I haven't worked out how many clicks the BC coilovers are on yet, it was left the same as what the previous had them at. I have to say they're quite forgiving but not too soft, they ride out the bumps in the back roads quite well without making the car 'skip' at speed. So a good feel out on road, maybe on track I could click them up a few but overall the whole experience driving is really positive. The DS1.11 pads are unbelievable, the lightest touch brings them in quite quickly. Even scrubbing speed off seems too easy, I've never had a pad that makes such light work of stopping a car, immense.

Chomping at the bit to get it out on track now but there's still a few bits to fit and sort out, but so far.... So flippin good.
