£92,913 with fees and heading to New Zealand presumably after the comment he left in the questions about being down under and the guys name. So we are under 18 LY here now.
Watched that and thought it would be hard pushed to break 60k, unbelievable, just hope the guy that bought it realises that it is Pounds not NZ Dollars(178,679!) and is far from a concours oem example that has been loved and cherished but a demo hack that has been used and abused as is evident from its numerous appearances in magazines and YouTube. GPH yours must be worth well into 6 figures when compared to this  makes Kett Acid look a veritable bargain, these prices are now looking a bit silly and means even fewer will be getting used for the fun car they were intended to be [smilie=icon_cry.gif]
Simon, luckily the guy that bought it was aware of the condition from the posts in the comments section so will not get any nasty surprises hopefully. :approve:
The 182 Trophy also went for a bonkers £47,965 with the previous record being about £22k for a mint one! More than the Megane R26.R went for.
What I don't understand is why folk still use Silverstone auctions these days, collecting cars is far superior imo. If that had been at an auction It wouldn't have went passed 60k probably.
allanmac Collecting Cars say they are the number 1 platform for UK auctions now in less than 3 years (£45 million in 2020) and I can see why even though most bidders do not inspect the car unlike at a traditional auction, they seem to be happy with the checks and the 250 photos.
Even if the occasional duff respray slips through their description
Well the 980 mile LY sold on CC 4 months ago for £77k so I would think perhaps a little more than that with inflation, because the Heritage car and the recent Acid had interesting provenance which is what people pay extra for.
A car bought to be stored all its life has no interesting history and can not be driven without reducing the value so is of less interest to most buyers.
The Clio 182 Trophy sold for way over double the previous record at £48k because it was car [v6plaque]001[/v6plaque] and has been in lots of media and YouTube films not because of its mileage or condition which was a little battered as expected.
I would love to know the discrepancy between the (private) sale of the Renault Collection vs the auction result total. I bet somebody in the procurement department of Renault UK is in for a dressing down…
…not least forgetting CC’s commission!
I think the whole caboodle did very well. Some of the results were remarkable. I have to echo Graeme’s thoughts on provenance as it stands to reason. That LY has a fabulous archive of media associated with it.
If there’s a lesson to be learned… get out there, enjoy your Vee, make some quality memories and take lots of photos!
