bought one of these for my phase 1 but have now converted my car to phase 3 ignition, after alot of head scratching :( :D , wondering if it wll still work in ph3 ecu ive got a spare ph1 ecu i would rather try playing with if they are interchangable????

once ived fitted my 4th engine anyway!!  , one thing ive have learnt bout 21t's is its defo a false econamy buying unknown second hand parts, will always buy new where ever i can now! :D

Absolutely, positively no way in the world.

The chip will NOT work on a distributorless ignition system.

oh, and i'll have them rings off you too (unless you need them now!) Totally forgot about them! lol

hi mate,

already offered lee_r21turbo first refusel on the chip he was really fast responding!! :(
did you need those rings? feel a bit bad but would be quite handy if i used them in my rebuild now.

Bob :)

Just as well I have pistons and liners a plenty eh lol

ph1's, ph2's and theres even a full set of new ones but they are staying put

l0l :)
If you need them mate, you keep em. I only bought em for stock! Shame about the chip tho, would have gone nice in my ph1 :(

Why not have some rather tasty forged pistons, with rings and fitting kit, a snip at around the ?500 mark, or even some tasty steel liners at ?450-ish?

Yummy!

cheers joff

i do think i need some internal parts upgrading so far i have had a melted piston, cracked liner and third engine seems to snapped a con-rod i only run 17-18psipsi!! regulary change oil and always use super unleaded just need to stop going flat out me thinks!!

Have you used the same knock sensor on each engine!? (cos if you have, it's faulty!) Or always put incredibly low octane fuel in?!

Then something is wrong my man, because I've never done any of that and I drive 'quite enthusiastically' including track, rolling road, up to 23psi, dizzy, dizzyless.....if it pops, find out why!

Whats your head depth?

Was gonna say not even my mate Andrew had ever snapped a conrod or melted a piston and he used to run 28pound of boost most days

Changed liners or HG's once a month but never snapped nor melted anything.

or a case of preignition, possible due to prolonged detonation (causing the spark plug to act as a glow plug), or seriously carboned-up insides. Wrong plugs even?

Bad sensor, dodgy flywheel sensor or its been messed with, dodgy fuel, too much boost (easy with an inaccurate boost gauge)

the list goes on.

the melted piston is an easy one i fell asleep in the car with it idling for 8hours!!!!!  after that the cylinder next to the fly wheel the one that melted started to smoke badly (damaged rings imo) and eat spark plugs every 50 miles or so and at the time i was working at halfords and the only ones the had in stock that i could help myself to were a far different heatrange, the second engine thinking back i broke the knock sensor and the first time i caned it it blew after 19miles, the third engine i have no idea!

hopefully the forth engine is going to the one, doing it all properly like!
