You clearly have no idea what you're talking about chap. I even quoted the TXi valve sizes for you at 36.4x7x111.8, 30.4x7x111.9 and 40.1x7x112. The Turbo ones are 43.9x8x112 and 37x8x111.3. I'd be wholly impressed if you could get an 8mm Turbo stem in a 7mm TXi valve guide.

Because I can get away with it thats why. And its free. No tossing about with EPROMs, mapping and the like on what is a 20 year old, limited system. I've used OE management- not even a 'chip' for over a Decade. Mapped or not, i'd put cash on the line to say that i'd beat you on torque any day of the week.

have you even tryed getting ur car mapped/setup i think you will find far cheaper then any standalone unit plus finding someone/company that supports that unit. where as the renix/benix ecu can be setup by most people if they look as its std 64k eprom
Agreed. Far cheaper as a one off. However, with the investment of Standalone, I can map, remap and re-remap over and again myself with no special kit. I have an excellent user interface that is easy to understand. I have dual switchable maps, auto-fuelling control, target AFR and rapid learning, I can recalibrate new sensors to the unit so I can use any sensors I like in seconds, I have fuel and ignition maps as far up as i'll ever need, I can run sequential injection, 8 injectors, it controls my boost, idle, fans, I have flat shifting, launch control, NoS control, Water inj control, I can switch from coils to dizzy and back again, I can use high or low impedance injectors, I can set alarms and alerts for when the engine is out of trim in any way....every time I make a change to the vernier, Turbo, injectors, charge cooling, exhaust system I DON'T have to go back and pay to get it mapped again.
i know that you are saying about the benfits of goin standalone and on that front i do agree, but it depends what you are trying to do, most good standalones are over 1k for everything you need to put on your car for it to start run ok-ish thats why we map it further to make it better and more effective to make more power i agree with you there, but most remaps well the one ive had done for me have lonely being in the price range of 100 to 200 quid a time so we go on the with 200quid a time thats 5 times to get ur car mapped and i dont think people get the car mapped that many times do they ? i might be wrong but i know i havnt done it to a single car that many times from memory. but yes standalone is very good and have come leaps head of most car ecus of today.
about special tool well it isnt really because all you need is almost the same if you are programing a standalone ecu u just need the software and we got it of a tuner in reading (which has now moved if i find him ill will post his location on for people to go to if they would like the software for a small fee (normaly he will take a pack of beer or some beer tokens

) and he will give you the pin out needed to talk to the ecu (reason why he will do this because he would like to go back to just doing carbs and normal engine rebuilds as i remember my last talk with him he would like to retire soon).
And, sat in the car with the laptop showing the gauges and 3D fuelling grids with the Target X tracking the engine up and down......well.....its cool as ****.
that does work to a point my reason for saying this is :
as you drive down the road your not on the same surface all the time and with traffic,corning and etc it makes it a very hard to get setup 100% but it has been done with good results, me personally i would just book a rolling road day so its in a safe place and in control environment so you can set up every part of the map, with every gear and rev range so get the best map setup that you can, but that up to you.
the main point i was trying to put across is that i accused of putting std 12v head as is without doing anything and same with the 8v turbo lump with is incorrect
anyway i cant be bothered to go on and on and on we will just accept that we have diffent views on how it should be done and leave it there. i just need some more spare parts to make some more 12vt setups for me, as this setup works for me and is very cost effective for me.(hehe)
