Alpine Renault 8 GTT

He would get a nosebleed if he came this far north
theres a little bit of northern in me, id be fine long enough to rob them and run lol. I think they are way too nice for my car anyway. Cant wait to see pics of them mounted on the 8 (y) with lows obviously :D

Man I feel REALLY old ! Wheels are looking good, I like the gold centres most 6 spokes are all silver this looks more like old GT's. Should look great on the car. Adey can't use these as they are 13" if he put them on the Dauph it WOULD be touching the ground.............................

You are still a relative sprog!!(Compared with some of us,!!) Looks pretty impressive the work you have done to your usual super high standards! I ran a 1255 Gord and 5 speed in a Dauph with Cosmics and Kleber 195/70 13 tyres, lots of neg but didn’t bottom out other than over zealous yumping on hump back bridges!! Car didn’t last long as the shell dropped to bits, stuck to 8s after that but was an interesting cheap alternative as 8g shells were getting few and far between in the late 70s!

Greetings,
I'm a new member and have been following your R8 build. I have been reviving an old R8 myself here in the US. It's not a turbo, but it has a C1J block with a R5 Gordini head and dual sidedraft Webers. I can post some photos if anyone is interested. I'm especially interested in the 5-speed gearbox Steve Swan built for you. I'm not looking forward to cruising on the highway at 4000+ rpm! Can anyone put me in contact with Steve to see if he is still in the business of building these 5-speed boxes?
Thanks all, Bob G

The problem is finding all the bits you need in serviceable condition. The next problem is to sort out resplining the U/j centres. The firm I used has gone out of business, and as of yet there does not seem to be a viable alternative. I had to use the old boy network to locate 2 for Paul's project here and they were the last 2

Hi Steve
What parts are need besides the U-joints? R5 Gordini (nonturbo) gearbox, right? Is this a 385 box? I have a 330 with later type bellhousing and input shaft. Is there anything else you need? The R5 Gordini was never sold in the US, so I won't be able to find a gearbox here.

Does your 5-speed conversion use the stock R8 shift linkage or is a modification required.

I would greatly appreciate any help anyone else can provide in sourceing donor parts.

Some really tasty high end bits of kit going into this! That seats looks tasty, I've been eyeballing so really uncomfortable looking aluminium bomber style seats up recently.

Those don't look like stock Renault parts! I have a similar aluminum seat in my Encore (R11) race car. It's surprisingly comfortable.
