Renault 5 turbo 2 / Vx220 love child

So I see this pop up which is very close to my design for the rs3 5 conversion although I am retaining the renault chassis but using lotus / vx220 wishbone / suspension setup

Seems I am not the only person not right in the head but feel slighly robbed ;)

Knowing vx220's inside out and the Renault 5 well it a strange very very close obvious choice when going wide rear mid engine route

@Duncan Grier If you can build one go for it! Some people would rather something like this than use an original. Time constraints are usually the issue.

As for the price tag, It's the time involved to build, even a midget from a sound painted shell will take over 200 hours to build as a race car which is pretty basic. I mean you can spend another 200 hours restoring the shell plus engine and gearbox rebuilds etc. A race midget resto can come to £40k. To be worth £15-20k??

Then the cost of modifying and building a car can be very time consuming.

I Suppose it depends if there's a market for it?

I know I'd Love to be building this sort of thing everyday.

@Mark_L all very true sir, big difference between hobbie builds and having to make a living from it :( Dream job stuff!. From experiance everything take longer especially the last 10% of build and always more expensive during this stage

Sure there is a market out there still and people with this kind of cash but a big risk to forward invest

I have not had time for years to do my own stuff and only just getting on with silver 5....rs3 5 not even planned to move in my garage until later next year

Damn that time & money need 🤣

"This vehicle is available as a commission for a customer to take on and tailor to their exact specifications. "

....so is it built or are they fishing for customers? Sounds like its a concept only to me, backed up by the complete lack of pictures and detailed specs. In fact it's lazy even for an advert, let alone for selling a hundred grand car.

look at their website and then decide if you could trust them with £100K of your hard earned money! You can pick up a genuine R5T for less and at least have a pukka car that has provenance and will appreciate in value. This is a Bitza and might be worth the value of its components, £10k is probably nearer the mark! A Gemini Engineering kit for a R5T replica is £5000 and is a tool room replica (ie all the parts are interchangeable with OEM) so a far better way of spending your cash.

Just had a look . If you had that kind of cash you would by an original car surely , The Gemini kit would be the way to go . Need to free up some more cash to go for it .
