5 GT Turbo Renault 5 GT Turbo Phase 1 Full restoration from Slovenia

Started repairing roof headliner.
It had some rips on the top layer, so I reinforced it with a few sheets of fiberglass.

After that i decided to fully separate the actual headliner, foam layer and the top composite layer as the foam is turning into dust.

So I cleaned up everything, now just need to buy a sheet of 5mm thick foam, and glue it on. I also need to do something with the inner felt layer as its dirty, has different shades of grey because of sun,... Maybe dye it black or something like that.

Careful when you refit, I used some excellent spray glue that grabbed hold of the liner really well, but I didnt quite get it straight and then couldnt get it back off again! Very annoying. 2-person job, at least. Do not recommend solo fitting.

Solo fitted.

Didnt use face to try and fit.

You only need to spray a small amount infront of you and use a paint roller to keep flat.

Thanks for the advice. Either way, I'll probably do it with my dad as I really don't want to fuck it up😅😂
After that I'm thinking of painting the headliner black as It's really dirty right now and there is no way I'll clean it off. I'm thinking of using leather-vinyl spray paint. Anyone got experience using something like that?

Today I welded the donor door holes from the plastic bumper strip. Luckily it didn't warp much and the small amount id did, it warped inside, so there will be really minimal bondo needed to straighten everything out.

I of course never bodge anything.

However, if I were I would use "regular" rattle can black for the headliner. You don't need anything fancy.

Also works well on boot parcel shelfs so I am told ..

So I glued new foam, just need to trim it next time. It holds okay but the original backing cardboard is quite wavy and not even so I will need to stretch everything once I'll glue it to the roof. Still need to glue the actual liner and paint it.

Next I visited a friend and sand blasted my front Brembos since I decided to do a full rebuild. A problem with this is that there isn't any store outside UK selling my specific dust seals.. Bummer.

Also this was waiting in the garage. Just a couple of small details and it will be complete. Full restoration.

Yesterday I repainted the front calipers. Still need to do the new rears and then some clear coat. Also need to buy Brembo stickers for the front pair.
I have yet to buy new dust boots as they seems a bit overpriced (200 eur for 8 new ones). Need to find some other place to buy them.

I used this kit.

I can buy it, have it delivered here and send it on to you, no problem, as long as you cover the costs - plus you may have to pay import duty at your end.

thanks, I think I got the right parts on order now. We will see once they get to me.
