gosh, guess what, engines still in place.... driveshafts now out and gearbox drained of fluids to aid removal. only the speedo cable and exhaust left holding it in place. Also ordered up some new engine mounts and an oil cooler kit through cgb on ebay. the new rad doesnt have an oil cooler so had to get an external one. Anyone fancy coming and doing the swap for me?..........
getting sent away on work this coming weekend, so thats another lost before FCS going to be very tight for this car to make it tbh
I keep getting tempted to get a new project in but know its not happening this year. The s3 tfsi audi conversion I did in the vx220's is so close to what I want in terms of performance, reliabilty and mpg....boring I know but 0-60 in very low 3's and 51mpg on steady 80mph run is win win and handles epic makes it hard or really expensive to top
I do keep getting old school hot hatch fever but cant decide on what. Need to finish wife's rwd audi 5 at some point but boss lady has expensive plans for it. Keeps asking to make it high reving v8 and look like a turbo 2 lol
Still love to audi 4wd tfsi a std looking r5 for a daily with aircon and few mod cons
only issue so far looks to be the wiring, my car being a small 1.1 with a mechanical pump doesnt have the usual aei wiring in place or a feed for the fuel pump. the aei is basic in its needs and im sure the wiring i have includes a switched live and earth. might need a visit to a scrappy to cut the plugs off a the loom that i need.
Not much extra done today, spent too long sorting out the old driveshaft end, it had been fitted 180 deg out and still pinned, all that was left was the end bit stuck on the output shaft of the gearbox. About an hour of beating and drilling saw it off and my original driveshafts back on quick jet wash to get rid of some grime too.
