The same thing happened to me. It got wet and caught fire. Managed to disconnect the battery and put out the fire just in time. Such a crappy design.

The Phase 2 in the UK did not get and interior upgrade like yours so if you find a phase 2 in the UK it will have a slightly different switch.

These switches were fairly generic, I believe the Clio and then early Megane used the same.

Plenty on eBay from the continent but then you will need to pay import tax.

I’d suggest looking on eBay for Renaults of the similar age. Something like this might work:

Awe so glad you stopped it before the fire spread!!.. Mine melted the plug to the switch and stopped luckily!! water caused mine also, turns out the red plus wire is constantly Live!!.. even with ignition off!!.. with no fuse in sight!.
curious as to how other models/ brands have overcome this problem?!.

so yeah I need a plug or a driver's door loom that I can solder the new plug into.
also shopping for headlights with uk glass if anyone has a pair for sale?!

Thanks for the help guys!. most appreciated!.. I am trying to find out all the details for the V55/5 import document that I am currently filling in so that then with this data they create the V5 document as I understand it.
if anyone has a Cabrio 19 1.8 16 Valve V5 I could copy some of the details from ? I need to know the curb weight
also the :maximum permissible laden mass of the whole vehicle in service (PTRA in KG) (F.3)

thanks but specs and weight and tow capacity is very different due to the engine size difference of a 1.8 16 Valve

Ahh never read that far but you are correct article is 8v

This site has towing limits and can tweak on spec
