Yeah it’s a concern of mine too, but I couldn’t find a better way of bringing the tank back to a good serviceable condition without it? Time will tell if it was a good idea I suppose
Fitted the complete braking system today with pads and fluid and everything was going well until I spotted this...
Got to send the bloody thing back to BiggRed now and get them to sort it. P1ssed that I got all the callipers refurbished ages ago and now here I am wanting to use them and they bloody leak...
btw, here are some pictures of some refurb calipers I got refurbed by Biggred (albeit about 15 years ago) when I finally took them apart to find out why they kept sticking no matter what.
Yep, both the piston bores and the slider tube bores had been grit blasted. The actual slider tubes had also been blasted. They've probably worked out by now that you shouldn't blast any of these sliding surfaces?

Great work as always .
Must be proper piss off . The momentum was flying along, regular up dates with lots of progress making the rest of us look like amateurs, and the a job you didn’t do your self let’s you down, buy two new ones and be done with it . I don’t know about any one else but Have not had great success with refurbished rear callipers on Renaults .
Rebuilt/refurbed hydraulics always a lottery, I've rebuilt masters, calipers, wheel cylinders etc with no new seals and they're still going strong, other stuff looked bob on and had new seals etc and leaked like a grannies bladder......
Bigg red seem to be a bit hit and miss, although the rebuild kits I've had have always been fine.
Yes I’m wondering if BiggRed can do anything to fix this knackered read Caliper. I’ll give them the option to respond, and then if I get no luck, I’ll consider my options..
