Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

Most of rear engined repro stuff from continent is total waz, I've had water pumps with outlets blanked , steering arms with half the axial movement.
You need a press to compress the bevel washers back there don’t you??
I made a compressor for GTA rears, but you can do them without, just a faff, more hands helps.
Just get a smaller bar/shaft in from one end and lever it down whilst fulcrum arm goes in other.....slip little key in....? Push in whilst someone applies pressure against it ...? I think?

:ireful2.gif: FOOKIN HELL!!! :ireful2.gif:

Fitted the complete braking system today with pads and fluid and everything was going well until I spotted this...

Got to send the bloody thing back to BiggRed now and get them to sort it. P1ssed that I got all the callipers refurbished ages ago and now here I am wanting to use them and they bloody leak... 🤦🏼‍♂️

I have the same issue with a new PAGID passenger rear caliper. I have had it so long i dont even know where the invoice is!

per chance you dont have the pipe straighteners yet Steve?

Had a good day in the garage today and FINALLY made a start on the Interior. First thing was to clean out all of the sh1te that was stored in the car... and also give it a clean, as there was a lot of dust and debris in there:

Next I fitted the bulkhead sound proofing:

With the main front to back wiring loom:

Before I went any further, decided now was the time to tackle a job I'd not been looking forwards to.... so first it was to prepare a workstation:

Or should that be put a flat table in the car so I can lie on... Then I started scraping off the sound deadening that the painter had fitted to the roofskin to strengthen the panel for when he was rubbing it down and painting it. Unfortunately when the car was transported back to me in the rain, the water got underneath some of the sound deadening causing it to "droop". I thought about putting the headlining over it... but then realised that it would only come back to haunt me sometime in the future no doubt... so it's got to come off....

With my superb Aldi adjustable heat gun set to a low temperature, and a gentle push with a scraper, it comes off eventually... You can see on the bit in the left hand side of the photo above, how some of it's coming off already.

It's not all off yet... but I know what's needed to be done!!

On a bit of a whim today I sourced my OE Showplates for the R11 just like the original Brochure:

Numberplate3.jpg

From this picture, I finalised the design with the chap:
Numberplate2.jpg

They should be here in a few days, will then upload a picture of the real thing so you can compare.

Bought them off this guy on eBay. So far I would thoroughly recommend him, and he's VERY fast in coming back to me with a design and open to me changing it a little bit to my requirements:
I sent him the picture above and within 10 minutes he'd came back with the first proposal!!

My search for some new OE seat material continues. I thought I struck gold recently, but when the pattern arrives, I see it’s got a black background, not the Grey/Anthracite of the original.

I’ve got a few more irons in the fire, so not all is lost yet..?

Must admit its pretty close Steve, but I guess knowing it's wrong can be all it takes on a build like this.

I don't think it would be a bad compromise if you had no better options?

On a sidenote and a homage it would look cool to see the Mk4 Recaros trimmed in this old school fabric

Getting there....!!

Found a place online where u can get a velour fabric PRINTED to a design I send them. Sent them a scan of the seat and got this:

Now just roping my Niece into making me a proper image of the design I want for the material.

The material is great with the same Suede like feel as the original.

Thanks for reading 😁

That's a find!
No compromise necessary! Well done.
I know who to come to if I ever need any seat material sorted!
