Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

Seen some tidy restorations and this is one area that has let them down.
Not on Big Steve’s watch , cracking job mate .
Nice job on the garage as well , just put a beam in for a builder to convert to a large single door on something similar.

Lovely work, this 11 will be so,so nice, makes anything I do look like skank.

Don't know how you'll bring yourself to drive it in our shit tip country though, I'd want a special felt test track to drive it on! With ladies wearing just their nik knaks dusting it as it went past......Oooh hang on....did I have a dream last night......

Pulled all the brake lines off the car today to give them a paint on a (RARE) nice summers day:

Quick rub over with Panel Wipe, to remove the oil & grease:

and then a spray of Etch Primer to hopefully give the paint a chance to stick..

Before lashings of Hammerite Green Paint:

Inbetween waiting for the coats of paint to dry, I pulled the track rod ends together, and matched them to the old rusted and rotten ones for length:

With the brake pipes all bent, painted and fitted, the next job to do was the feed and return fuel lines. So I bought a roll of 8mm copper tubing, my old mukka @jas_racing and I got busy with the bender again. You see we have the old lines as a reference to copy:

We're getting the hang of it, as again the finished results speak for themselves:

Normal service then resumed... removed the pipes, so I could give them a lick of etch primer, then RAF (Petrol) Blue paint:

As the weather was so nice this weekend, we took the chance to get the ARB back onto the subframe, and then the subframe back into the car. Got the subframe out onto the grass and all the associated brackets and bolts we needed... then realised the brackets I've got ARE NOT the right ones for the 11 Turbo.... BALLS!! So I've now hopefully ordered the right ones... will let you know how that goes...? :ireful2.gif: :ireful2.gif: :ireful2.gif: :ireful2.gif:
P1170389.jpg
So as we couldn't fit the ARB, we didn't let us stop us from fitting the subframe to the car, but we didn't fully tighten the bolts... just put them on finger tight:

I then fitted the engine mounts, again finger tight:

Dug out a new in bag bonnet release cable I bought, so fitted that also:

Then last action for the weekend, was to see if the old heatshield I had plated, would look like it would fit again...?

Pleased to report it looks like It will!!!

Thanks for reading all! :)

Coming along nicely. It takes a lot of time to get everything looking nice before fitting.
I may have arb bkts if you're stuck for them.
On a side note, on some pics, is it grubby marks or is some rust creeping back already?

i'm just doing the same job on my 5 at the mo Steve, fuel lines and front to back brake lines

i don't have the luxury of a line bender, so the sharper turns aren't perfect! but i was going to leave the lines in copper, i feel lazy now and looking at buying paint!

Eat, Sleep, Clean, Paint, Repeat... :grin.gif:

Steering Rack, de-crudded with the wire wheel, then painted..

Had a big fuck off paint reaction with the black, so don't have a finished picture... sorry. :(

I also then re-painted some brake disk backing plates, to better match the refurbished calipers. Chuffed to bits with the results..

I then had a go with some plastic primer, and then paint to see how some of the plastic parts would look after a quick coat...

Again super chuffed with the results!!! Think I'll be painting a few more parts rather than relying on the plastic dressing products this time...

I then finished off the fuel pump and filter bracket assembly, and thought I'd dig out an old picture showing how they previously looked...

Looks a LOT cleaner me-thinks!!

Thanks for reading :)
