Finally got the 2nd sump back from the powdercoaters this week, so I could finally finish off the assembly of the engine.
First thing though, I always run the powdercoated parts through my little parts cleaner to get any remaining blast media out:

Then I bolted the baffle into the bottom of the sump with a bit of threadlock on the bolts:

I then followed the advice of
@Kris M and gave the mating surfaces, a bloody good clean up with a load of engine cleaner, and emery cloth:

I also did the same on the sump face, and then got ready to seal the two (hopefully for good!) with my choice of sealing compound. Used this elring product as it came in a aerosol applicator so makes spreading it out easier:

And for this re-build, I used one of the Corteco single piece sump gasket sets:

Part numbers if you want them:

Next it was a case of putting a couple of beads on both the engine block, AND sump faces, then putting the two together:
So that's the engine re-assembled, but I came across the Dizzy drive gasket also this week, so fitted that on as well:
To finish, I also got back the last part that I had ceramic coated... I'm hoping this engine will run cooler with all this effort!!
Thanks for reading!!
