Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

Afraid I would have been telling it how it was at that point Steve and been told to f off would have ended in a fight for sure

What a class A Muppet who boo boo has to work extra hours as he cant manage a takeaway order with said menu in hand

What a mess

Seriously what a c*nt... His life ain't your problem. He has a job to do... Fecking do it!!

Steve I think you need to seek legal advise and get a letter from a lawyer stating you will be collecting the car on x date.... And will pay an amount that you think is fair for the work done....

WELL,
It would seem the suprise visit went down like a lead ballon then. Its a shame it has got to this point, but there is no point leaving the car there now. There's not a cat in hells chance of the car getting finished to a good standard, if finished at all!!!
(you never mentioned if he had done any more since last time you visited?)
I would ring round, find someone with a transporter (give them a breif low down of the events) and go with them to collect the car.
Take a bit of cash with you, (everyone loves a bit of cash, everyone has a price!) agree a settlement figure there and then and take the car away.
So what if you shoot a few hundred quid over the odds. Your sanitys worth that much, right!

The money spent seeking legal advice only will add to the stress, use the money to get the car back and getting it one step closer to the end result you planned for in the first place!

Once the car is done we will re-visit this thread, with the head line.............

PLOTTING REVENGE.

Im sure there will be pleanty of suggestions.

Get a lawyer involved (Deduct costs later) to show you mean business Steve, he'll......

A - shit his pants and get it back to you ASAP.
B - knock the fuck out of it.

Either way you're gonna win after the conversation we had @ Donny. I think the main aim is not letting him win, and the way I see it, you have nothing to loose.

Gutted that you're having to put up with this level of muppetry, but rest assured, it's only a car, it could be a lot worse, apply some of that clearly great business acumen that you have, take the bull by the horns, plan well and let him have it. I can tell you, he won't win that battle.

i have a similar situation, repairs on my car are nearly complete. I've paid nearly 3k to have new sills and quarters welded, I received a call last week to say they have nearly finished, but to finish the job they think it'll take another £1,100!

£4,000 grand to weld new panels to a Renault, yes just weld. I'm waiting on another call

glad im not in the same situation as you with the owner steve, I start swinging at the worst of times, let alone when someone starts giving me grief. Fair play on not losing your shit

£4k!!!! Feck that, I would be taking legal action and get then inspected. Rip off

Society gone crazy and cant pay fair money for fair job. Everyone in the take, makes me mad!!!

Steve Id say I cant believe that happened but I truly can, he seems a class A pr*ck who blaggs his way through business and blames every issue in life on someone else, including the customers it seems

I forget the locations of both car and your house, I think your quite far from me otherwise id give you 2 numbers of local transport guys who'd have no trouble removing it, if you are near then give me a message and ill pass there numbers over or add me on FB (metzy ive just used one again last week for 2 cars without issue, if your anywhere near Newcastle upon tyne then search for Andrew Blacklock on FB, this would be childs play for him and he's a pro

DONT leave it there, he is past the legal route when now screwing up evidence documents you were trying to show him, immature child that will damage the car before you and rest assured the police will do nothing if he does as they don't like to get involved with business disputes

Shit I only just read this Steve, don't know how you've kept your temper. Do you not know anybody who can rent you some muscle for a few hours to go and get the car £500 or so should get you a couple of nasty bastards, and they can give the owner a slap into the bargain. I had something similar with a guy years ago who was going to make me a load of ally bits (his company actually made all the stuff for the MK 1 Elises) I took a load of parts up there for him to copy, making my car unroadworthy in the process. We had agreed a month or so to turn stuff around and after 4 months I still had nothing and requests to just send my stuff back ignored. I decided to turn up unannounced and drove all the way to Birmingham. I managed to get in without knocking as there was a goods inwards door open and I went up to his office. He was in a meeting with 4 or 5 people in suits but had broken off to take a phone call and had his back to me when I went in. He turned around and his face was a picture. I starting asking him in front of everyone there why he thought it was alright to mess me about lie, not return calls, not return my stuff and he started to give it the large one at which point I did my absolute bollocks called him every c**t under the sun, grabbed him by the throat and told him by best Snatch gangster how was going have him cut into little pieces and dumped in the river, at which point he suddenly became a different person. We went outside and he got my stuff, boxes of stuff he made for Richbrook and even petrol money for the trip up there as well as a profuse apology. So sometimes it does work

So following my unsuccessful visit to MARC (Melton Accident Repair Centre) on Monday this week I received the following e-mail from them on Tuesday morning:

Good Morning Steve,
Putting to one side a minute your exaggerated opinions, made up stories & degrading attitude. I'm contacting you with hard facts of actions being taken from today:

  1. We have only charged you 40 hours labour & materials less then half the actual hours worked.
  2. Car was not picked up on 10th September as agreed.
  3. Company policy is indoor storage is charged at £25 per day this is due to loss of working space for our paying customers.
  4. From Saturday 19th November the car will be stored uncovered outside this is charged at £15 per day but more detrimental is the everlasting damage that the elements will cause on every bodies hard work.
May I suggest a speedy resolution is forth coming.
If the car is paid for & removed before Saturday 19th November I will drop all storage charges in good faith & I will hear no more on this matter.
Thanks
Marc

So this started a line of line of e-mail negotiation with my car's captors and to cut a long story short... this happened today:

Thank F**K that mess is now over..!! HUGE THANKS to @Nick Kettle for helping me source and tow the trailer today and provide adequate counter menace to ensure the collection was trouble free!

In the end we agreed on £1000 cash ransom for me to collect the car today and remove it from that F****** I****'* workplace.

I thank all of you for your words of encouragement and support for me during this saga!

What now I hear you ask...... well the truth is I don't know.. I think I'm just going to sit on the car over winter & see what my options are in 2017 when the weather warms up a little..?

Pleased it's over,
But if they were so tight for space and work was not progressing surely they would be phoning you to ask for the removal of the body shell especially if it went beyond a collection date?
Anyway draw a line under this episode and as you say see what your options are over winter but please don't give up on the car.
