Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

So they paint in primer after you say your taking it away .... Wouldn't be paying for that... Hope they have told you what primer they have use... Wouldbt want it to react with the paint after.

Good luck with that meeting tho, I am sure you know your rights and will stand your ground.

Is that the infamous Ferrari I spy in the background ?. Hasn't even finished that and lets be honest that's not going to be a cheap job. Seem like a bunch of jokers, get it off to Haz (y)
Yep, the Infamous Ferrari is still sitting there in EXACTLY the same condition it was when I went there 2 weeks ago to see the latest on the 11..

Had a bit of time to have a look around it today and parts of it were stroon around everywhere...

Get it out now or it wont end well.

In the end with mine I refused outright to pay the escalating costs when it hit double the original quote. I told them that x was the limit and I expected the car finished for that price. It took a while to get there but its now finally away from the bodyshop. FINALLY.

Things have already started to go awry... The bodyshop are now trying to tell me they've done £1800 of work to the car already and minus the £500 I owe them, I still owe £1300.. :ireful2.gif:

Start by telling them that any work they did after you told them you would take it away won't be paid for.

Did you have an agreed total before they took it in? If you had, try to break it down to work steps and count how much their work is actually worth.

Just what you need on top of the shite service received

£1800 is near job completed money!!!!

Facts facts and more facts is the way forward as no doubt they will put more effort in arguing with you than body shop work

Did exactly that... but was told that they couldn't let it go as it was as their work would have been wasted if water got in. I retorted stating that it arrived to them in that condition..

The owner of the bodyshop is away on Holiday until 15th October and I'm told he'll deal with it then when he returns.. (This guy just loves making you wait.

TBH I'm just thinking I'm going to leave the bloody thing there and call it a day. Just lost interest in the bloody thing now..

I took pictures every time I went to see the car, and there hasn't been much change in all the time it's been there, apart from this last time I went to button it up.

Sounds very pricey for the work that's been carried out, and there's the uncertainty of how all the repairs were finished or if it was just primered to look done. Unsure if you had a finished figure off them but I assume of that its around 4k, or more! If is has been agreed and what's been done is a big chunk of the cost and it's stuck there until then, there's time for them to have it painted before he is back too. Maybe see if that's an option so long as it's not an open bill and finished on time, with daily deductions past that date.
I wouldn't agree to it but my costs and timescales aren't like places like that so may be some leverage.

No, he still has the car.
You could try and negotiate a finished price, fixed, around what you originally planned to spend with a firm end date and a penalty for every week he runs over.

So lets say £2000 and finished by the end of October. 01st November £100 comes off the finished price. 08th November £100 comes off the finished price.

If you sack it off let me know. I'll go and low-ball them an offer for the shell, its worth next to nothing to anyone if you walk away.

It never rains... it pours.... :negative.gif::dy::dx::ireful2.gif:

Got a message from @Millie_Bee tonight whilst I'm here in Barcelona on business that I had an URGENT letter hand delivered to me at home today... She opened it and it basically explained that the garage I hire to store various bits for the 11 and other cars was hit by a truck at the weekend and some damage occurred. Sarah goes down to have a look and finds this..

FOR FU!KS SAKE!
The keen spotters amongst you will see a C1J covered in bricks in one of the shots together with the roof-lining from the 11. God knows what's left in there or if the local light fingered brigade have already been in there & stolen what's worth pinching..
