Chuffed to bits in how they look, proper plush and plump! 👍👍👍

Can’t believe just how much material the guy used though... 🤦🏼‍♂️ Looks like I’m going to need a LOT more...

Just as I suspected... the warmer weather is coming, and so it my drive to get back into the garage and continue work on the 11!! 😁

Decided to have a go at putting the drivers door on today, pulled it out of the spare room where it’s been sitting for ages (together with the Bonnet and other stuff).

I’d been told that new hinge pins were fitted and ready to rock... they were certainly there, so I bobbed the door on...

Ready to ROCK indeed.. it’s rocking about up & down like a fecking idiot!!! Not going to accept that!!

So off it came again, and I got my 90 degree drill bit out again, and gave it some love..

All hinges now drilled out, and ready for plan B...

New 8mm x 45mm shoulder bolts arrived this week:

So it was just a case of a couple of squirts of Silicone Grease, and a tap into place... door now on!!

Chuffed with how solid the door is, none of that horrible hinge wobble you get on these old Renaults, there’s no play whatsoever!!

And they don’t look too shabby either:

Link please mate...I just drove out the split pins on the 9 doors and was thinking to myself "These shitty things need replacing with something better"! Talk about timing!

Your wish is my command...

You need to make sure you buy the 8mm x 45 M6, like this

BUT @DaveL485, you need to make sure you drill out the existing hinges to 8mm with a Cobalt drill bit...!! Don’t p1ss about with any of those screwfix specials, step up to 8mm with a right angle drill adapter, and you’re onto a winner. 👍

Screwfix??
This is Dave

they are the ones from the petrol station. 1001 drill bits for £9.99 with £20 worth of petrol

🤣

I got a load of 1980's Chinese drill bits form an old retired engineer. He had boxes of them from 10s in the large sizes to 50s in the smaller sizes his comment to me was 'some are great, some are not and some have all the tensile strength of a piece of Chalk' He was right too.

Now the drivers door is properly fixed for onto the body shell, next step was to fill the inner panel with sound deadening:

Then I nipped out to my “spares garage” and picked up the doner door:

Very soon had most of it all stripped, just a couple of pesky nylon clips that need to still come off:

Everything seems in really good order on the door, and the electric window drive unit is working great!!

Will commence the cleaning and prep for installation now.

Thank you for stopping by!
