Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

Dug out a big pile of OE boxes over the weekend containing all sorts of new goodies:

Biggest box was a new rear light-strip:

Then another two boxes were a set of rear lights... but not turbo specific, these are regular Renault 11 Rear Lights:

Second pair of boxes were a pair of genuine OE proper R11 Turbo Rear Lights. You can see here how they match the centre light bar much better than the Base Model lights:

This photo highlights how the OE R11 Turbo lights are much darker/smokier than the Base Model R11 Lights:

When I found the best combination of lights for the car, I started to have a closer look at the New rear Light Bar that I'd got and compared it to the old one that was on the car from the beginning:

Hang on... there's something different..
SAM_0889.webp
Yes! The new light Bar has cut-out's for fog lights, both side rather than just on the one side?? EXCELLENT I thought! I can now have a dual fog-light set-up rather than the one-eyed look the car came with from the factory. So I pulled off the fog-light housing off the old light bar, and fitted it to the light-bar so I had a double set-up:

Now I had the fog-lights both sides, I had to add the wiring into the car. Thankfully an old loom I had gave up the connections I needed, so its properly plug and play.

Then it was just a case of fitting it all onto the car:

@DaveL485 i think I owe you a debt of gratitude Mr!! Thanks for the Tag on Facebook today!! It looks like you’ve put me onto the right material for the 11 turbo Seats:

As the weather wasn’t with me for the Clio 182 Resto Today, I had a day in the garage on the 11.

Spent a couple of hours wiring up the fuel pump first, then turned my attention back to the interior.

I cleaned out the front of the car, and then dug out the old carpet:

Looked a lot more dog eared than I remembered... and this was the best one I had, and I remember I’d dyed it with grey paint to bring it back to its best... 🙁

Good job I managed to find a new one! 😆

It’s actually a LHD R11 Turbo carpet, but it’s got heel pads both sides, so it works. As I was designed to fit a LHD I needed to trim It a little bit to get it to properly fit my RHD car. I overlaid the two, and then trimmed to suit:

It then went into the car and I was chuffed with how it looks!!

figured I’ve come this far, I might as well have a go at the Centre Console as well... so in that went:F309165D-F26E-4D31-9248-C6A688807D55.jpeg

Did you have any joy with the rear bumper? There is some great products out there now for repairing your old one that I was unaware of until the other day . Watching a lad repair one in a body shop the other week, you have probably looked in to al this by now .

Even contacted my old boss for photos of my old one .
I think you need a turbo 2 next in blue of course .

I took the rear bumper back to my painter before the lockdown. He's messaged me to say he'll be able to sort it no problem, he's just going through the whole Furlough thing at the moment though, so as soon as COVID does one in 2020... he should be back at it for me.

put me onto the right material for the 11 turbo seats:

Been in discussion with the material supplier to confirm the layout of the Seat material. They sent me this photo, so I now know which way to measure the seats to understand how much material I need to order..

Need to take a couple of those special big picture pills 💊💊 before I look at the cost.. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Things have been a little quiet on this thread for some time, reason being I’ve been waiting to go ahead on the interior retrim until I saw the result of something play out..

And today, it finally came good!!

A guy who’s big into the R11 Scene in France (Moriarty) was looking for people to sign (and pay) up for a new set of R11 Turbo Seat Cushions that he was looking to get made that had more lateral support (Side bolstering) than the original R11 Turbo Seats 💺.

Details of what you were getting were always a bit sketchy and they took ages to come to fruition... but today the finished goods finally arrived:

And I’m super chuffed with the result!! You can see from my mockup of holding them where I think they will be located, that they look more like the original GT Turbo size bolsters now, rather than the Original (flat as a witches tit 🧙‍♀️)R11 Seat design..

Now I’ve just got to get the Wallet out and get that expensive seat material purchased... 🤦🏼‍♂️

Thanks for reading 💺🙂🎉💥
