Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

Battery connected, key turned and....

FUCK ALL 🤬

Fuckpissarsebollockswankshitbags!!! No doubt there’s a connection I’ve missed somewhere...

So following the disappointment of the last time we tried to turn the key, and nothing happened, @jas_racing came over today and we started to try & go thru the wiring to figure out where we went wrong?? It didn’t take us too long to realise that the problem was alarm related, and something to do with the immobiliser circuit on the starter motor, so within a few minutes the dashboard was dropped back… again!

We found out that there was an issue with the output to the relay circuit and after a little bit of chopping and changing, we re-wired the circuit and soon had the right noises coming out of the car.

Well one thing lead to another and then before you know it:

An inordinate amount of f**king about today to end up with a picture showing little progress...

But for all you eagle eyes spotters we have fitted:
  • Heat shield
  • Boost circuit
  • Air filter housing bracket
  • Air filter housing
  • Inlet elbow sandedpainted and fitted
Got the Intercooler to Boost hoses currently drying on the washing line after giving them a good degrease and scrub.

Thanks for reading 🙂

Looking good . Loving the 11 , just spotted a phase one 3 door 1.2 on the bay that’s got turbo conversion written all over it and it’s blue , and it’s fairly local . Over stocked at the moment but I’ll keep a eye on it .
Oooh is missed that little gem, she looks quite tidy and as you say a great base for something silly to go under the bonnet...!?

F4R-T would get it movinf along swiftly!!

That is literally 10 mins up the road from me.

Always liked the 9's and 11's.

Progress continues on project R11 Turbo. Been doing a few faffy things over recent weeks including cleaning and painting the boost hoses (painted the bloody back of the house at the same time thanks to the poxy wind, but let’s gloss over that eh...!? 🤦🏼‍♂️).

Had an hour in the garage this evening to get the original rear bumper prepared to go back to the painter for a good sort out to see if he can bring it back to life.

I bought a new bumper, but only after it had been painted, did I realise that it was for a poxy 5 door R11, not my 3 door. I can’t find a new one anywhere, so I’m forced to get this one fixed.

The car had a slight bump up the bum when I bought it, so the rear bumper has a few cuts and grazes:

The biggest problem is the fact that the near side bracket that’s plastic welded to the bumper, had separated in the impact, so someone took it upon themselves to drill a big fat hole thru the bumper and body to secure the bumper to the car:

That’s not going to fly... so I’ve got hold of some small M4 Countersunk bolts and nuts to bolt it back to the bumper, that I’m hoping can be covered over by the body shop when it’s re-painted:

Will report back how that goes.. as it’s heading to the body shop very soon!!

Thanks for reading 🙂

There's this on ebay but not sure if it's any better?

114111413595 (item no. As since my phone update it won't let me copy the link??)

Nice rescue of the bumper! Why change when you can repair? Make sure the body shop uses the correct filler material in the holes so it won't sink in the future.

Thanks @MOS , my painter is an old school Renault Bodyshop guy so I’m sure he’ll do a great job, even though he’s very modest and says he will try his best.. his best has always been great for me before!! 👍👍

Thanks for the links @Mark_L , that R11 bumper on eBay might be a good option if mine doesn’t work out!! For sure it’s on my watch list now!!

I feel that those new bumpers on eBay are lower spec ones from the picture...? Again though, I’ll come back to this if my painter can’t make a silk purse out of 🐷 ear! 🤣
