5 GT Turbo R5 GT Turbo - Complete strip down and re-build #1

Good shout on tagging and bagging everything. Next time I do something this involved I’m going to mark and store everything much better than I have in the past.
For both time and money’s sake haha

@Will D93 I'm at that time in life where I can't remember where i put my keys an hour ago, so I need to bag and tag everything, along with hundreds of photo's. Those cable tie markers are brilliant, £8.99 for 140 on amazon

Its been a very busy week with the house move and all!! we managed to get a bit done this afternoon.....

Started off continuing with the strip out of the wiring from the rear of the car, got all the wiring out to the front doors and then dropped back and began removing all the plastic grommets, clips and brackets.

Then removed the tailgate glass and then the tailgate and rear side windows. We then drained the engine oil and moved on to the exhaust and removed that.

We had also put the new engine hoist together......
IMG_3115.JPG
We then set about dropping the sub-frame and engine/ gearbox out in one hit....
IMG_3118.JPG
We disconnected the steering column, brake pipes, struts, and support bars.

IMG_3128.JPG
We then lifted the shell up and over the sub-frame and engine assembly...

Never even planned on doing this today as we are still unpacking boxes... the plan is to get the engine and gearbox off the sub-frame tomorrow and then re-fit the subframe and suspension to the car so that we can move it around. I've still got to finish boarding and insulating the garage ceiling!!!

I will keep you posted.....

Thanks for reading.
