21 Turbo R21T Quadra (photo heavy)

So...
Someone made a comment in another 21 thread stating that there appears to be a 21T renaissance going on... Hate to prove people right most of the time but thought I'd chip in...

This isn't a new project, more of a recap of whats been going on for the past few years.

In 2013, bought me a Quadra. Ex Maarten, 21TOC regular (from the netherlands). Story was that he bought a Belgian Quadra YEARS ago (probably 10+ years ago at moment of writing) and after a lot of fun, swapped over to a 21T Phase 1 instead of a TQ and that Quadra was parked. Seeing as I was interested in these fabled 21's and couldn't resist bringing a fellow countryman... car home I bought it.

Took us a good year to finally transport it to Belgium (as you'll notice, I'm not in a rush with this thing :) )

Thanks to the aftermarket nosecone I dubbed this car "Piggy" and welcome it to its new shed.

It's wasn't perfect and certainly had some flaws

Nothing that couldn't be mended offcourse and, before we knew it in August 2015, the Quadra was MOT'd and certified for the road !

Throughout the years, some bits where added / swapped / Upgraded

As of September 2016 this was how it looked:

Even underwent a "bad-boy" periode in its life.

Black Skirts had 2 simple reasons:
1) Grey skirt had warped being off the car for so long
2) Rusty arche (Rust on a renault... who'd have guessed right ? ) which had to be covered up.

Anyways, our local wizard was called in and the poor devil went to work conjuring up sparks, lightning and hot hot hotness.

Quickly turned to this:

At this point,... I shat myself. Having gone out for lunch, I left my quadra with a rusty, albeit fairly intact sill and came back to having a huge piece from both the sill aswell as the jackingpoint cut out. Nothing less than bricks where shat on this day my good gentlepeople.

Fortionatly, this wizard of sparks & lightning mended this fairly quickly:

So....
After having some bodywork done, I'm sure you'll all be delighted to know the engine was still spot on.

This doesn't mean I was content off course...
Money was chucked at this thing, bits and bob ordered and somewhere some french guy is making money hand over fist.

All things considering i'm quite happy with it, althought there is always room for improvement.
Plans:
- Stack meters need to go in for Oilpressure, Boost & wideband AFR.
- Electronic Boost controller (Greddy)
- Install new engine (and box, Syncro of 2 is gone on this one).
- Assorted small items which will undoubtedly ruin my bankaccount.

- Stupid amount of actually driving the car ...

Plan was that it would've been ready for 30 years R21T... well you guessed it, it wasn't.
Might make it to 30 years R21 Quadra (if there is going to be such a thing... dunno) and if not that, I'm sure I'll see you lot in the UK or on the mainland some time.

Going to bed now, would be interested in your feedback.

PS: Oh yhea .. have a EVO Bonnet coming as well.

They do look good in silver, had that bumper on my Quadra many moons ago, be careful parking next to high kerbs as they hit :0(

Thanks for the positive reply's !

About the it being silver... I must admit I kind of dislike the silver.
Nothing to do with the color per say, just after having seen other coloured 21's, the grey is a bit dull... Can't be helped though.

Next project to tackle will probably be the hydraulic clutch assembly.
The Quadra was converted to Phase 1 cluth system a few years ago (not too long before it was put in storage) but it keeps going soft. In the beginning I suspected a dodgy feedline to the master cilinder, but I replaced that with a Tilton hose. Now, every time it sits idle for too long the clutch loses it's resolution / modulation and basically becomes a On/Off switch.

I'm going to swap out the master cilinder for a Wilwood master cilinder, put in a 1-Piece teflonBraided hose and feed the wilwood from a seperate reservoir which, unlike the standard reservoir will be positioned higher-up. Hopefully that resolves my issues. If not, it'll be the slave cilinder that'll need replacing and thats a bit trickier to find a substitute for ...

Plenty of jobs left to be done on this thing, but all in due time I guess.

@Tony Smith I know, I'm paranoid about hitting / grinding that thing. Had to get a MOT this week though and I scraped it a bit on the entry... Thankfully only the underside so no visible damage but I'm going to have to learn to let go. I can't keep the bumper clean / unscratched for too long I guess. That entire front end is basically one big fly & rock trap.

Clutch line and slave rebuild kit in the club shop mate :) Tried and tested by several people including myself.

Hey Turbjj,

Might be. Can't recall if, before the changes, I ever took it out to Goes....
I'm at 99% of all the dynodays Henk does so you'll defenitly have seen me before (I know I've seen your cars there on multiple occasions) but I'm just not sure if I was ever there with the quadra ...

i've been there with my Laguna 1, With the company beemer (yuk, I know) and ... thats probably it. If the quadra's been there it's been a one time thing.

i'll be at Goes again on the 9th for the last dynoday so if you're comming would be good to catch up !

I remember having seen a silver Quadra with black sideskirts when I was there with my white Clio 3 RS Turbo. I bet that there are not 2 around;-)

I'm not coming to Goes this year, maybe next year in an R21. (hopefully)

Ha ! That was me allright :)
There are no Belgian Quadra's as far as I know, let alone grey ones with black skirts and this particular nose ...

If you should have some time spare on the 9th, coffee is free, as you know :)

Following @DaveL485 's update policy, there is no real update.

Still waiting on my bonnet to come to belgium, afterwhich it'll need painting so ought to be ready for the new year
Still have a bunch of stupidly expensive stack gauges sitting in the trunk, still awaiting install
Still need to replace the clutch feed line and use the refurb kit I bought from the shop (Also situated in the trunk)
Still have an engine + turbo sitting, ready to go in

But at least it'll be an oldtimer come 2 weeks from now which should make it cost close to nothing to insure and tax.

Need to pull my finger out but not getting round to it. Bought a GT Turbo which needs some love and which I'd like to chuck about the ardennes come spring so that is taking up most of my time (and budget).
