Firstly let me point out that all of the follwoing information was given to me by the previous owner and I have not checked it for accuracy.

This car was supposedly built at a cost of £42K to compete in the Wilhire endurance championship in the early 90's where it completed in the production class, hence the full interior. I also believe it won its class.

It has a full roll cage, fully adjustable suspension, side exhaust and the biggest petrol tanks you will ever see complete with quick fill, see pictures.

HP was either 280 or 340 dependant on which way you flicked the switch.

I have driven this car and it is very very quick! Not sure it has 280hp but it is plenty to be excited about....

It is an early left hand drive model, without sun roof and was converted to race spec directly from the factory, it has never been road registered.

The body is pretty much rust free, there are a few dings on it as you would expect from a race car but there is no major body damage.

The floor is arrow straight as are the front rails.

The bad bits.

It has had the suspension pushed back on the passenger side. The floor is not bent and neither is the chassis rails. The car drives straight, I have just never got around to really checking it over.

The Turbo is sitting in the back seat. The orginal turbo was knackered, sent it off to get it overhauled and to cut a long story very short I never got it back. The turbo with it has very little play in it and was bought from a Turbo fan who told me it was off a very low mileage Quadra.

You could convert this car to road use very easily.

There is also a full spares kit available by seperate negotiation. This isncludes 2 full sets of wheels, brake pads suspension components clutch disks plugs etc etc etc.

Open to sensible offers and would prefer to sell to someone who is a genuine enthusiast.

Drop me a mail and I will get back to you.

Thanks

where has the car been hiding for so long,,, i have read about the car in the will hire championship,, but had always presumed it was the penthouse badged one, which i had been told had been scraped

nice to see the car,,hope it goes to a good home, and that we get the chance to see it on the track one day

ok i just checked an old willhire programme,, and i would certainly say this car is the ex bleekemolen penthouse car,,which bob claxton told me he had scraped,, so bob must have scraped a penthouse badged europacup car

the programme stated that Giles Butterfield (ex F3 driver),Charles Challlenger,Charles Rickett and Peter Sneller drove the car during race 4 in the 1989 Willhire 25 hr motor race at snetterton for GB Motorsport(Silverstone) and i know this was the company that Bob bought his europacup from

the programme also states that the 21turbo was in the class A division which was for cars over 3000cc,, this was due to the turbocharger equivalency factor had been added,

how much are you looking for the car??

The Willhire 24 Hour was an endurance race for production cars held at Snetterton Motor Racing Circuit in Norfolk, England between 1980 and 1994. Over the years, the race included both sports cars and saloon cars. Latterly, it was contested by competitors running in the FIA Group N specification National Saloon Car Cup. The race has throughout its history has been run by the British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC), which was also responsible for the aforementioned series

The race was sponsored by Willhire Vehicles Rentals (now Anglian Willhire, part of Northgate PLC), a local car rental company, after its owner Roger Williams was approached to sponsor a motor racing event at the circuit. Roger talked about sponsoring a 6- or 24-hour event, initially as a joke, but the offer was accepted and the United Kingdom's first 24-hour race was founded. The 1989 event was 25 hours long to mark the 25th anniversary of the Willhire company.

The final event was held in 1994. Its experience in hosting an 24 hour race was proven to be beneficial when subsequently, Snetterton became a host of some British Touring Car Championship night races from 1999, but full 24-hour racing did not return until 2003, with the introduction of the Snetterton 24-Hour 2CV Race. However, national 24 hour endurance racing would not return until the introduction of the Britcar 24 Hours in 2005, taking place at Silverstone Circuit. The 2005 Britcar event is sometimes referred to as the Britcar Willhire 24 Hour Race.

Lyn he's asking 3K. See the thread Matt posted for loads of pics.

I was THIS CLOSE **Holds fingers really, really close together** to buying it myself.

I Doubt even the it'd see 3K mate. After the cage, suspension and boost control it's a std car save the refuel setup but who's gonna buy that for a road car....

If it had been a few months ago i'd have had it, and possibly a few months later after i've built my 8-car garage, bought her a scenic, myself a van and decorated some more of the house, but right now I cant stretch to it.

Sorry guys been away with work for the past couple of weeks.

Lyn, Thanks for the information on the car, I could not find that much myself but then I didnt try that hard to be honest....

£3K is what it stands me in at and I think that is a reasonable sum for what you are getting. If you wanted to go racing on the cheap then this is the car for you.

If it doesnt sell by the end of April I will get it prepped and enter a few events. If I go to that much trouble I might as well keep it, I have spent the money already!!

If anyone is interested drop me a line at [email protected] as I dont get on here very often.

Regards

Paul

Posted a reply which seems to know have disappeared, very strange....

Sorry for the lack of response from my side, been away working for a few weeks.

The car stands me in at £3K and would be a very cheap way for someone to go racing and be competitive If it doesnt sell by the end of April I will prep it and use it myself, if I get to that stage I will keep it as I have already spent the money!

If anyone is interested perhaps they could drop me a line at [email protected] as I dont get on here very often.

Thanks for the update on the cars history Lyn, I could find very little, but then I didnt try that hard...

£3k for what it is....you wouldnt build it for that and you probably wont find anything to compete with it for that either.

Its worth it to the right buyer, if such person is reading this, for sure. Just wish I had the money spare lol. I couldnt bring myself to sell up the ph1/Quadra to buy it in the end!
