Your probably right but it's always surprising what turns up. For example I had this delivered the other day from a chap in France. Manufacturer date of 1988 so it's been sitting on someones shelf for the last 28 years. Typically I hadn't seen a new fan for ages then a few days later I found another, albeit twice the price of this one @ £100. If anyone is after a new fan PM me and I will send you a link.
This was next job was going to be a bit fiddly but actually wasn't as bad as I thought. Like most I expect the wiring gaiter/sleeve between the body and tailgate was worn and splitting.
So years ago I bought a pair of new ones but thought I may end having to cut and rejoin the wires to feed them through. Then I got chatting to one of the technicians at work who lent me the tool set below. It still wasn't the easiest of jobs, my patience is pretty low in fairness, but once I had worked out how to remove the spades from the connector it was ok. I think it was tool D I used in the end. I mucked about being all gentle but it turns out a bit of force was needed. There is a small clip on the spade the hooks over a step in the connector and you just need to release it.
I dont know about anyone else, but i hunt through ebay, gumtree ect looking for parts ect.
Never have i seen a 1988 unused fan........... Nor a brand fine new red carpet, for that matter!!
Hat off to you, this build is one of a kind and something to be proud of.
Well deserved when you consider the years of work that have gone into it!

Hi Barry, you probably already do this but remember to search the European versions/alternatives of the sites you mentioned. Not as good as they used to be because parts are getting that bit rarer but the occasion gem does still come up. Surprisingly I find eBay Germany and Italy have thrown up more goodies over the years than France.
Ok smarty pants!
I was just saying I had not come across one, Im not saying I have tried to hunt one down.
But now I know your king pin on hunting out the goodies, I'll be sending you my shopping list!!!

That's actually an interesting thought. What about a new parts list thread that people are after. I occasionally come across some obscure parts, as I am sure do others, and if I knew it's what someone wanted would be happy to point them in the right direction.
We have a pretty awesome parts lookup in the menu at the top of the forums. I have used it to look up 21 and Clio V6 part numbers and search for them online.
Be prepared to lose a few hours if you start searching through though lol
Hi fantastic attention to detail. I have only just been in a position to be able to buy myself a second car and have always loathed after the Renault 5 turbo. In fact you have inspired me to make my first post.
I am now the proud owner of a raider. However my resto will be nowhere near as dare I say it "OCD" as yours. If you are willing to get rid of some of the old parts, I would gladly take the interior light with ir sensor off your hands.
Mike at gt turbo spares.
He's not the eaisest man to get hold of.
But he will have want you want, what you need, and what you want- but don't yet know you want. (Until you have been to see him)
