Phillip Island GP Circuit, Australia

Now the car has completed major overhaul (thanks to FredBTM) it visited Phillip Island circuit last week. First time for the car to visit the track.

Pirelli P Zero run flat tyres worked surprisingly well! EBC Yellowstuff pads, installed by the first owner, worked pretty well too. Doesn't have the bite of Ferodo DS2500 or Pagid RS29 but didn't suffer from fade running 7-8 laps sessions.

It was damp and very gusty in the morning and with the car's reputation to spin out with little warning, I was nervous as hell! Minute changes only on the throttle mid corners and I survived! As for lap times, it was shamefully slow (driver's limitation).

Morning damp sessions, I clocked around 2:11 and best dry afternoon lap was 2:06. Had to back off the last two corners catching up to a 182 so a 2:04 was possible. For a reference, most GT3 racing cars lap the circuit in 1:32 and I clocked 2:01 in my Clio 182.

One of the laps morning sessions:

One clean lap in the afternoon albeit not fastest:

Great to see the Phillip Island circuit through the front window of a Clio V6

I've been lucky enough to have completed plenty of laps around that race track, most of them in a 1600 Mk2 Escort around 10 years ago. There is something very special about going around Doohan Corner at almost maximum speed in an old Ford Escort. From memory my best time was 2.06. Lucky Heights is also a wonderful corner and great fun if you get it right

Well done on the heel and toe, it seems to be a dying art now-a-days

Were there any other Clio V6's in attendance?

No other Clio V6 in attendance unfortunately.

Lukey Height is my favourite corner too. Love it when I get the speed right and the car just slide a bit over the blind crest. Doohan corner still scare the hell out of me. Heart says go at 170-180 to gain a couple of seconds, head says just be safe and stick to 150-160 and drive the car back home :)

The morning session in the rain. Eek [smilie=icon_eek.gif] sounds great and loving the Fuego on track at 2 mins .30!

Very nice and smooth!

Incredible noise and love hearing all the throttle blips between double de-clutching. Only wish my ph1 would sound like that on full chat!
