PH3 Black 21T

Blimey, that T34 looks massive compared to the T3....!!
Ollie's been & gone, we've changed the Plenum hose & now i've got plenty of boost...infact probably to much @ 18psi - but she's going well....just need to take her for a decent drive to see how she fairs against other traffic...:-)
Planning to meet up with Ollie & Paul (GTA) one evening next week for a play...

Just be careful, it'll make slightly more boost in higher gears then low, and that's where fuel will start to run out. That's why I prefer to check afr's in 4th or 5th

Dave I'm sure it was you that pointed me in the direction of the guy that sold those turbos on ebay?

there's a local turbo firm, ex garrett employee i'm told, who had a big batch of the bentley ones a year or 2 ago. a few are fitted to c20let engines pushing over 300bhp, on a couple of cosworths etc too. i took my t34 there to get it looked over when i got it and he mentioned he still has a few in stock, i think around the ?350-?400 mark.

he doesn't know me, but if you mention the 21's he should remember, ac turbo's 07967 655952

Damn a leaky boost hose, be nice to see how it goes with that replaced.

Had her running 20psi last night & she went really well....thought that was a tad to much so settled on 17-18psi....for the moment....
I did think she was a tad timid - now I know why...:-)

Yeah, I'm gonna tone it down a tad so I don't kill anything...!!!
17psi will do me fine.....

Should I replace the exhaust clamp with a "v-band".....???

Jon.......... you can never have to much boost haha bet your chuffed thats sorted?
mine will all be back together by monday so i will be up for coming down for a drive, theres a couple of bits i wanna get off Ollie anyway.

That would be cool Dan, I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks on Saturday...so let me Know if you fancy meeting up one evening this week....:-)

wake up Dave we're not on about my turbo! we're all talking about Jons turbo!

Well said Dan.....you beat me to it....i'm not asking about Dan's turbo, i was asking about the turbo on DAZ......come on Dave, get with the picture...

Yes Andy! good shout think they came on the arnarge?? i knew id seen a t3 with different fixings on the compressor housing. yeah looks like they decided not to use the v-band for some reason??

Jon if you can check the part number.......713333-4

Will check the part number at some point......should i fit a "v-band" or leave the exhaust clamp as it is....???

I'm sure that is the part number in the turbo from memory 713333-4 sounds right.

personally i would but im a fussy bugger! its really up to you mate, supose you could say if it aint broke dont fix it!

Well i took the 21 out again last night to have a play with Paul in his GTA......i think he was a tad pissed off.......as Daz would be if he went out in the car since the boost leak was fixed.......she really flys.....I think she's the quickest 21 i've driven.....gearbox is still notchy though & this slows progress down a tad as you can't fly through the gears but in 3rd & 4th it's wicked.......holds 17psi and pulls like a train.....
Left Paul's GTA in 3rd & 4th - he was expecting to keep up as he did against the "black pearl" in the Alps.......
All i can think of is that the turbo, elbow & downpipe makes a huge difference - once i've added a front mount & replaced the restrictive phase 3 inlet pipe i'll be laughing......
And @ Daz......you were only scratching at the surface of the performance of the car.......shame on you....!!

Funny that, that car likes a gearbox. I picked it up needing one, fitted a 60k gearbox to it, that blew once Amrit bought it and Rabson then fitted a replacement.

It went very well though as a standard car.....had bundles and bundles of money spent on it when Nick owned it.

Maybe some fresh oil will rid the notchiness, proper oil, no CarLube ****e

I've bought some Total Semi Synthetic gearbox oil (as recommended) & a tube of "molyslip"........UAD also suffered the same problem & the oil & molyslip sorted it out...so once back from holiday i'll be top of my list of things to do....
