PH3 Black 21T

result, should fly with those fixed. still do the boost test tho as can reveal leaks that only appear under boost conditions. any pics of the new part fitted?

Good stuff ...
I found leaks in my bottom wing cooler whilst cleaning / flushing it with white spirit, white spirit running like a tap out of several places was the clue ...

Couple of pics.....the daddy of all airfilters compared to the "baby" one fitted.......

This is the offending split pipe - it was really fooked with loads of splits - i'm amazed it was holding 12psi.......i think she'll fly once i've replaced the pipe......

This is the said turbo...Ollie thinks it's a Cossie hybrid......the actuator pipe goes to the front of the turbo & not the boost pipe.......if you look closely you can see the reducer section on the outlet.....very bizarre set-up......

Will report back later tonight once i've peeled the tyres of the rims enjoying my new found boost.....

The turbo could have been spooling to silly boost to compensate, that's why leaks are bad, if left unfixed it can wear the turbo out faster. Looks like a cossie unit, well exhaust housing, usually the inlet is fatter and tapered. The housing should be a v band fitting allowing 3" downpipe to be fitted reducing restriction there too. Move the actuator pipe to the inlet manifold as the pressure drop across the boost circuit will also increase boost a psi or 2 ;)

I take it i'd need to seal the nipple on the front of the turbo & take the actuator pipe (with the bleed valve fitted) to the inlet manifold..??
If this is correct, which nipple on the inlet manifold would i use....the one next to the pipe from the dump valve..???

Correct. Any will do, ideally one that's blanked atm, if the one you mention is, then that's fine

Maybe Volvo or Saab...???

To be honest, as long as it's goes like a stabbed rat i'll be happy..:smokin:

Really dan? Why? Think your confused with the rs turbo's. Imo that's a .63 cossie housing bolted to an escort or std 21 unit. Should be have 3 bolt holes on exhaust side but looks like a price has been welded on? it'll be ford if the actuator bkt is different place which makes the comp outlet sit in a different place hence the change of boost pipe. Should pull harder up the rev range

It went really well @ 12psi in fifth even with a split boost hose. The elbow, downpipe & massive cossie filter should make it pull stronger to....

I wouldnt expect the filter to make much difference, the boost leak fix will. The elbow only looks about 2", smoother flowing than std elbow but not bigger and I guess the downpipe is same size as a scorpion etc. Still alot better than std set up tho

Sorry yeah, mis type. That original ring on the housing is for a 3" pipe which may come in handy for a full system if you go down that route at a later date ;)

i couldnt see the pic very well on my phone now ive had a look on the computer i can see the outlet has been altered. not confused with rs turbo mate, id say thats a .48 housing but its not a genuine cossie/garrett one similar tho! as for the actuator bracket that makes no difference as thay can be moved, the only one thats in a fixed place on a cossie turbo is the one on the compressor housing on the t34

cossie .48 housing

Blimey, that T34 looks massive compared to the T3....!!
Ollie's been & gone, we've changed the Plenum hose & now i've got plenty of boost...infact probably to much @ 18psi - but she's going well....just need to take her for a decent drive to see how she fairs against other traffic...:-)
Planning to meet up with Ollie & Paul (GTA) one evening next week for a play...

Jon.......... you can never have to much boost haha bet your chuffed thats sorted?
mine will all be back together by monday so i will be up for coming down for a drive, theres a couple of bits i wanna get off Ollie anyway.

Its a Bentley T3 (same as a cossie 4x4) but with a .63 2.75" V Band exhaust housing. But looks like somethings been welded to the back of it

Yes Andy! good shout think they came on the arnarge?? i knew id seen a t3 with different fixings on the compressor housing. yeah looks like they decided not to use the v-band for some reason??

Jon if you can check the part number.......713333-4
