performance suggestions

alright chaps i need some advice

my 19 is being resprayed as we speak, and the engine is on the table in my conservatory.
soon it will be rebuilt and i need some suggestions for more power
i do all the engine work myself and im pretty much self taught ,
ive definatly learnt from my past mistakes,

im thinking bike carbs or webers, cheaper the better

i cant afford to turbo it , and i wouldnt want too, as ive had 8 turbo cars in the past and it would be cheaper to buy a turbo than make my renault turbo charged

im only gunna use the 19 for showing off ,not a daily runner.
i like the sound and looks of bike carbs but i dont no how to put them on ,set them up or where to get the manifold made.

has onyone one on here got experience fitting bike carbs who could help me ? for a good drink.
i cant throw thousands at it, i got some zzr1100 carbs jetted for a 2.0 megane f7r off ebay , so if i can use them it will save a bit of money

ive also got 3 f7p engines and 3 gearboxs and quite a few spares, which ill swop for some help !
im in no hurry ,i just want it ready for shows next summer

Ive thought about it, but ive collected a dipped and skimmed block off ebay, reground crank and bearings recon head and loads of new parts for the f7p lump, and I would like to see it as standed as possible, except for carbs and slammed to the ground

i see what you mean alright, might be an idea however to go the 2.0 route on this, if you dont lift the bonnet nobody will know

a decent engine is the base.

Check and check again and build it right. Theres just building it to get it running and theres a build for maximum performance.

As for the fuelling, bike carbs that you have are going to be the easiest. If they have been jetted for a F7R then all the better, how well they were jetted is another matter though. Expect to have to spend some time setting them up.

Bogg brothers are not what they were when they started out, they are very expensive now. You could make one yourself out of steel and get someone to weld it for you or maybe see if theres a fabricator close by.

You will also have the issue of ignition timing, your best binning the stock ecu and going for a programmable set up. It will work off the stock ecu but it won't deliver all it can. The other option which would let you get rid of the ecu etc would be to get a carbed ignition module from a 1.4 or 1.7. Timing won't be right but you may be able to get it not to bad if you move the pick up to advance/retard as needed, you lose the knock sensor though.

Do you have any photos of the car before/after the paint job? Sounds interesting.

Where are you then, I was cycling near Wisbech just yesterday.

haha hes posted a cheeky rear end pic on FB and i litterally druelled. will have to pop up to you tucky!
