PC Based XR25 USB Cables

OK I'll have a proper look shortly (I'm sat in a lecture using my phone) I can see the fonts haven't been installed but that wouldn't affect it.

The engine needs to be running and the small screen should say 43 bytes (maybe 1 or 2 out, depends on the model) Usually when it shows the 50+ it means it can't find the right sequence in the byte stream to decode it

Well I just opened the big connector on the cable and found no visible faults with PCB. There are only two wires going from PCB to connector, that's probably the way it should be. I can upload pics if you want.
Do you think that transistor could be at fault?
How do I correctly install the fonts? Can I manually copy them into Fonts map and replace those files?

We'll have to look closer at it before we say it's not the cable

I get similar trouble using mine, but I think it's because it doesn't like the firmware version on my car. The data shows up in the bottom but nothing else.

:)

One of the screenshots shows 56 bytes received but there is nothing showing down the bottom

Fonts install but extracting them then manually putting them into the windows/fonts folder

Thanks. I think that I installed the fonts correctly now(some things are written with that "lcd" font(XR25 for example)). I'll try again tomorrow morning. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all the help so far,

David

Get the engine running, connect the cable then open the software.

Let me know what it says in the little pop up window, the data field down the bottom and on the righthand side

No luck. I still get 56kbytes recieved in that little pop up window. And no data(deafult values). I hope to try another car(Mk1 Clio E7J '94) on friday.
And I accidenatly typed wrong description to the links in that first post.
That's what I meant:

This is when engine is running(or at least key in contact position).

Gauges while car running.

Car not running(same as cable only connected via USB).

Tried with other Clio yesterday and still no joy(56 bytes...). My car was once tested with real XR25 and it worked fine, so I think this rules out the car's fault. I'm starting to believe it's the cable at fault. If you can give me schematics and list of components I'll make one and try with that, don't really know what else to do.

Can you download and run this

Make sure under settings you pick the right port and select baud rate as 62500bps, databits as 8, stopbits as 1, parity as none.

Start the engine, connect the cable and see if that can get any data, if so copy and paste it here
