PC Based XR25 USB Cables

Cabrio

I have this cable working on my sons ph1 1992 r19 cabrio, that car has Bosh ECU with multipoint injection.
Today I tried it in my ph2 1994 r19 cabrio with Magneti Marelli single point injection and it does not work.
Led in cable does not lit and there is no data transferred.
Maybe the MM ECU is sending data to another pin?

the details window on the unhandled exceptions said something about conversion from hex or something. I'll get screen grabs during the week.

Right, finally got round to having another play with this...

This is what happens whenever I try to get the graphs up (XP Pro)

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Any ideas?

It's ok...i got it sorted.:D

Had to run the font install into a new folder on my desktop and then go into my windows font folder and install new fonts from there.

Job done.

Now all i need to do is figure out how to use the software...unless someone has a manual in PDF i can get my hands on.

Cheers.

Hi,
I have just joined Retro Renault. I found you via Google.
I have some questions about my Renault 25 TXE automatic (4 speed) 1992.
Will the XR25 softwear work on this car? If so where is the connection on the car? The speedometer has stopped working:roll: will the softwear tell me what is wrong? I have checked the physical connections amd all seems OK.
I take it the cable has a USB connection to my lap top, I am running Vista?
Looking forward to hearing rom you. Thanks.

I got one of these a couple of years ago and use it reguarly with my 19 16v. I am not sure if it will work with a 25 or not- guess someone else can answer that. The software is not advanced enough to tell you what is wrong but it can display speed. If you cant view the speed through the software then your problem is with the speedo cable or mechanism.

I take it the cable has a USB connection to my lap top, I am running Vista?

Yes-usb. I have used mine with Windows Xp and Windows 7 so it will work with Vista as well.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I have found the computer socket, it's in the engine compartment, near the wiper motor. The speedo is electronic, the sensor is on the lower left side of the autobox. Is there a way of checking it with a multimeter, likewise the speedohead? Thanks.

XR25 Kit connection to vehicle?

Hi. As a retired RAF Aircraft Technician (Electrical/Instrumentation - Multi-Eng) I'm absolutely impressed with what Retro.Renault.com is offering and helping with. However, I have one question before I join as a fully fledged member ( I reckon I could contribute enormously ) does the XR25 Diagnostics Kit work on a Megane Mk1, 1999, Hatchback, K4J engine, 1.4 16valve, petrol vehicle? I ask because the plug/connector shown in the samples of 'how to go about building an XR25 kit' uses a connector that differs from the Diagnostic socket on this car? Hmm. Can you advise please?:roll:

Not 100% sure on this one but I believe that the MK1 Megane uses OBD1 for diagnostics rather than XR25.

You can probably buy a cheap OBD1 reader off ebay.

Hi, and thanks for that reply. It turns out my car is an OBDII (2) so have ordered a set of diagnostic disks plus an OBD2 connecting cable. I'm hoping this will help me sort out why my car refuses to ignite.
