5 GT Turbo Oil sump refitting - advice needed

Hi,

I am about to refit the oil sump (engine on the car), best method would be Hayns guide? Using sealant and avoid the "Shaded area" (see photo)? I also have the cork seal...

Any advise here? I might also do the timing cover seal and small rubber seal

You want sealant in the shaded area from experience, just do not go mad with it, and use quality sealant.

make sure you use the OE seals, some of the aftermarket ones are a little too hard to seal.

I’ve got a full gasket one on my r11 turbo and look forward to see if that cures it...

As already mentioned thin layer in shaded area with oem seals and use a quality sealant how I used to do it and worked fine, make sure all surfaces are nice and clean / dry also

Never seen the one piece gasket @Big Steve - Raider but looks a good option, are you still using a thin layer of sealant with it?
