Nurburgring

Pics look great,

Do you want to make any changes to the car since you got back? ;)

If any of guys are going again post it up and we could do a v6clio.net trip.

I know a great chalet to stay at, not publicly available and super cheap.

I think it would be much more fun as a group :approve: :approve:

Car looks great and not surprised it drew admiring looks. Hope you enjoyed yourself and if that was your first trip, you will be back! I went last year and just booked to go back end August although will let the (track prepped) hire car do the hard work :race:

Yeah I'm very happy with them!

The car was fantastic on the r888's, what a huge difference they made. The Apex discs and redstuff pads were fading towards the end of each lap, so I'll be looking at an upgrade there perhaps. I'd thought about going all out (KW's, buckets, etc etc) but I've decided to enjoy the car for what it is with only minor tweaks.

A group ring trip would be epic! If someone could organise that I'd be there for sure. :approve: :salut:

Thanks Iain. I certainly enjoyed myself! It was my first trip and I'm already planning a second. We got lucky on the way back and caught a free event at Spa. Incredible to see groups of classic supercars giving it full chat through Eau Rouge. All in all, an unforgettable weekend.

Good luck in August! Have a good one :approve:

Right then. We are doing a group trip to nurbergring. May be 2016 but I will make arrangments. Our friends chalet will make it great as we can all park stay in the same place half way down the hill to adaneau.

I have a few mods I need to go back and try so can't wait. Those pics make me want a silver phase 1 badly.

So the 888s any feedback compared to super sports. What sizes have you got and how's wet weather driving?

Fair play Matt - I like your style.

At the moment, I'm happy to commit to x1 Vee vacation each year.
This year it is Origine RS and I expect next year will be too.
If the organisers decide to make the Origine RS event biennial (eg like classic Le Mans) - I'm 100% with you for 2016 (though I already have some dates booked).

Seems like a great trip out to the 'ring. :approve:

I certainly would be interested in a group outing to the ring..........

On track, the 888's were superior to the super sports. No doubt for me. Can't comment on wet weather track use though, it was dry all weekend.

On the road it'd be the super sports I'd go for. 888's produce quite a bit of noise and aren't great in the wet as you'd imagine!

I ran 255/40/17 on the rear and 225/45/17 on the front.

I'm going with the girlfriend and two friends that are first timers.

They don't yet know each other but coincidently both have black mr2 turbos!

I've been to the 'ring 3 times in the last 2 years and i'm going again this year, it's a fantastic place. I did the Spa classic last year, followed by a track session on Spa F1 circuit in my R21 Quadra, then we bounced down to the 'ring and did the F1 circuit and the Nordschliefe.

It was a good week.

Eau Rouge/Radillon through to the Kemmel straight is pretty mad when you drive it, but when you really, really push hard through it it becomes >the< best corner (arguably) in the world. My first quick run through it I entered at not far off a hundred, in the rain. The grip increase as you jink from left to right up the hill is insane, and then it all suddenly goes away and the whole car goes light as you crest onto Kemmel. The 21 wriggled like a worm on cocaine and if it wasn't a 4wd i'm pretty sure i'd have been eating the armco :) Got a video somewhere if anyone is interested.

I have the 21 down to 9m32s bridge to gantry, hoping for a sub-9 at some point!

Does the Pope have a balcony?

...get it posted up!

It should start a 3mins, before that is a bit yawn as we're winding up. 3mins is where the rain starts and the old 21 starts reeling everything in. You can see just how much earlier i'm on the power than everyone else with the 4wd. It goes well for a 26 year old 3-box saloon :) The banging you hear is the exhaust (not the wheels falling off) and the on-boost rushy-screamy noise is the screamer pipe, as it has a TIAL V44 external gate.

Eau Rouge/wet/squeaky bum time is about 6:50 onwards as I haul it into the hairpin and then nail it down the pit straight. It topped out in 4th which is about 125mph before i lift off. Still gets my heart going just watching it. After this I was treated to a 20-min session passenger in a 550bhp V8 Ultima CanAm which was topping 160mph down kemmel, I think my vmax was 135ish. Kemmel is surprisingly steep uphill!

As well as this trip it went to La Chatre last year, it got hammered at a Blyton trackday, Silverstone and was by-invite in the morning session at Retro Rides Shelsey Walsh hillclimb. That was it's last use in anger because the three launches on the uphill start there ruined my clutch and now it slips if I show it any more than about 2psi of boost hahaha :)

Very entertaining - both the viewing and the commentary!
I think I would have been pussy-footing around in those conditions. Doff my hat to you, Sir.
