NOTCHY GEARBOX

I spent ages trying to ensure that I gopt the correct replacement oil when I did my oil change - there was lots of conflicting information and factors, many of which have been listed in this thread ... As I sit here typing I can't remember what it was exactly now but might take a look through my records ... I remember the bottle having blue and red colouring on it and it being ELF - as in the links above ...

I do also recall not being able to get the recommended oil due to it being discontinued so I used the appropriate TR replacement - which after all the research for replacements ticked the boxes and was as recommended by Renault. No issues with it ...

To refill, I didn't have the special dip-stick tool, instead I drained all the oil and ensured that I put the correct amount back in by measuring the volume. I also did what Mossy is suggesting and shared the bottle with another owner as a 5 litre bottle does 2 gearboxes and the stuff is quite expensive and half the bottle will just end up sat unused otherwise.

My gear change can be quite difficult to get into first sometime and very occasionally some other gears. The car apparently had a rebuilt box fitted before I purchased it. Is it worth changing the oil, in case the wrong oil was used and this is the cause of the issue?

Is it the Trz 75w80 that I need?

Also, how do nicely go about changing the oil on the v6 is difficult to access?

Cheers Iain, I will look into the cable before trying the oil. Is the adjustment of the cable something that I can look at myself?

Never done on a V but shouldn't be to hard , In not sure if in knowledge base on here or not , I'll take a look later if you can't find it
