noisy n/s shaft or gearbox?

So the 19 is up on stands and i'm doing various things over a few weeks.

Today i changed the oil. So got it turning over to warm up the oil and there's a worrying noise from the front near side, like a bom bom bom bom at idle.

So i went round and moved the hub, noise stops (wheels off, struts off so hub hanging at funny angle) and the driveshaft engages and disengages with the g'box depending on position (in neutral so basing assumption on sound and feel) but more seriously theres little darkness from oil on shaft and under g'box i noticed whilst under when i was undoing the sump plug.

So is the d'shaft f#cked or the g'box or both, at a guess???:?

Any useful input will be greatly apreciated.

Going to go and put the new oil and filter in/on now...

no its fine, its the fact your running it with the suspension at full droop and then further theres no struts on it, I'm surprised you haven't dohegaiters yet tbnhne some real damage tbh
