Right then, better dig myself and the car out of hibernation ! I haven't touched the car since Blyton last year. I have @Brigsy coming down at the end of April for a blitz on the Quinn. Plans are pull the engine, replace clutch. Replace and re seal the sump after the huge oil leak last year. And do a few other odds and sods. Should be fun
So, spent a weekend working on the cup with @Brigsy@Sheryl_O. The engine needed a decent freshen up after thousands of miles of abuse! Had a massive oil leak after Blyton last year so that needed sorting as well. The engine came out and we left the box in. Swapped the main crankshaft oil seal and replaced the flywheel as the original has small cracks in in. New valeo green box was fitted as well. We fitted my refurbed baffled sump and resealed the sump / timing cover. Found the block was cracked in the corner, (Brigsys van has cracks in the same place, its probably been like that for years, nothing I can do about it and doesn't effect the engine so it went back together! Replaced the inlet / rocker cover gaskets and did the valve clearances. Fitted another turbo as the original was smoking. Lastly we fitted a Renault 11T manifold heat shield and carb lobster
We then degreased the engine bay, gearbox and engine before we dropped it back in. Tidied up the loom and oil return. Replaced the carb base as I wasn't able to lean the mixture off enough on idle due to a damaged mixture screw hole. New 10w50 oil and type D coolant finished off the job We then went out for a 20 mile test run with the GoPro fitted Drives superb now, no leaks ! BIG THANKS TO BRIGSY for the help
Well both 5s passed their MOT's with no advisories. The coupe is running really well. Going to change the rear disks, bearings and pads before blyton. Also gave the old girl its first polish in my 8 year ownership and fitted the o.e bumper, Makes it look abit more presentable
