IMG_0080.webp Well thought after lurking for a while it was time to start a little project thread
So here's a little background first to bring yours up to speed

I bought my 5 eleven years ago I'd wanted one for years but got into bikes and cosworths first
Truth be told I bought it to tinker with as a sort of hobby but it just grew on me and I've been unable to let it go over the years
So much so that I sold my mkv r32 when the kids came along so I could keep it

I'm currently converting it to f7pt as the c1j ran lean again costing me another set of pistons hardly a ground breaking conversion and due to £0.00 budget it could take awhile
So I'll start of with some posts of the reshell and various other stuff I've done as soon as I figure how to get the pictures from the various devices I've used over the years
Cheers
Alan

Old shell picked clean
Was a sad day taking it to scrap (had a moments silence)

The shell was worse than it looked and the prospect of a weldathon on my back on the garage floor was not appealing
Step forward Renault genius and alround top bloke mat@codered
Mat had a solid shell for sale at a price that was to good to miss only snag its 8 hours away in Kent
Built a trailer and collected

Is that a swap to bearings to replace the bush or is that just what they look like new?

nice work, post up some links for bit for them buddy, im sure loads of people will need it but wont know about it yet

I had them turned up at a local machine shop years ago
Bearings were £16 of eBay bushing sleaves were roughly £45
I'll post my hand written drawings of the bushes and if anyone wants them they can take it to there local turners
Will also find link to bearings

You can get new bushes for about £15 each if you look on eBay as replaced mine. Right pain to fit though!
When I done this about 5years ago I couldn't get them so this was my solution
If you look at my car it's caged and stripped so the removal of the rubber dampening was never a big issue for me
I know what you mean about changing them ended up doing everything pipes, flexis calipers as the nipples snapped
Worth it in the end though as the rear was so unpredictable before

Bonnet clearance is tight to say the least
