Moggy
Gone but not forgotten
Not much to say really! I grew up around 18’s as dad had a few! Always looked through the Haynes manual looking at the turbo info, and looking at how the turbo boost dial was next to the clock!
Wanted one when I past my test, but they where hen’s teeth in 1997! I ended up with a fuego turbo, and had the best retro tow set up, with the old man dragging it home with his 18 estate!

That one had lots of welding and was a good hack for a few years, and then found another fuego turbo

That became my dads when I got into 5’s and we finally sold it in 2004 when I got my Megane 225. Unfortunately I don’t think the purchaser made good on his promise to put it back on the road.
Jump forward to 2021, and I saw a guy on Facebook, “thinking” of selling his 18t. I dropped him a message saying when he had a price in mind and when he’d made his mind up to drop me a message. Well it seems the soft approach worked as he got battered by messages asking had he made his mind up. I got a message over Xmas 2021 asking would I still be interested. Looking out of the window and seeing my 7
Megane’s, I thought, yeah hit me with a price!
And he did! I took a big gulp, and said yes!
We arranged a pick up date, and took a long and steady drive to Scotland! (Bloody hell it’s a long way).
Mrs Moggy’s Koleos did us proud, but the cvt transmission was not the best for towing, but still managed 31mpg with locking it “gear”

And so after the last few years have been a bit shit, lost my dog, then lost my mum to cancer the day before my 40th. But while I have been helping dad, and spoiling myself with toys, I noticed dad wasn’t really doing much for himself.
So, for the first time since 2004 (as that’s when we scrapped my dads 18 estate) a Renault 18 is back at my dads house!
At first, he just stood in shock looking at it, before finally taking Mini Moggy for a little spin around the block!

So, there we go! Thanks to the few that knew what I was planning for keeping the secret! Mainly @rogerreno . And also a big thanks to @Big Steve - Raider for saying that he knew I’d buy it!
Hopefully I’ll bring it out to a few dry shows!
