Clio My 197/Meglio conversion

I now know why the reverse gear isn't engaging properly with some diagnostic assistance from my son waggling the gearstick around. Pulling the stick across right raises the selector upwards and its fouling on the little assembly where the clutch line from the master joins the line out toward the slave. Its pushing the whole assembly upward so I'll have to relocate it somehow.

Stick with it. The Meglio is a great conversion. Us Meglios, should meet at some point, and compare horror stories!.
Haha! I'm not sure i'd class mine as a horror story compared to the other rusty old chod in my garage :D

I fixed the gear selection last night after work, was pretty simple in moving the bit out of the way where the clutch line joins on the NS chassis rail and securing out the way with a zip tie, then lopping a bit off the bottom of the plastic wiring channel under the battery tray.
Sadly I probably wont get much done now for a while as next weekend is CSF, then I have my kids the weekend after, so unless I book more time off work the next free day I have for garage time is the 19th!

Interim non-picture update: Saturday before the kids arrived I snatched enough time to mount the AC rad and intercooler to the Meg rag (it all clips together nicely) then bent the Clio AC pipe down to meet the AC rad - however one of the fittings has different bolt spacing so I had to open out the hole a bit. This whole AC thing is becoming a real pain, so considering binning it all together. It's never worked anyway!
So now I need to mount the crash bar back to the front which fouls the intercooler - so I either need to re-mount the rad pack (again) further back, or chop out a load of the crash bar around the corners of the intercooler. I will debate and decide....

I find it quite odd that the install of the engine package and getting it running was done quite quickly, and it's then taken me almost as long over again to get the bloody front end sorted. I've also made a crap job of it, the trimming of the top crossmember is terrible so will be redoing that at some point.

Exactly that, using the clio rad is a lot easier. Which I did initially, getting the engine swapped over is the easy bit.

I'll add a pic of how my mate did his at the weekend.

He doesn't run aircon though.

So I went out last night and trimmed the crash bar to fit over the intercooler, then put the wheel arch liners back in, followed by the headlights which involved a load of fuss rerouting a rad pipe to the header tank. I thought I was pretty close to getting the bumper on but ran out of time, and I also noticed that my header tank is rubbing on the bolt head for the engine anti rotation mount so thats pissed me off as I need to remount that now FFS.

The whole front end thing is actually bugging me quite a lot, it's untidy and I don't like it. Considering going back to the 197 Rad and replacing the crash bar, and top/bottom slam panels.

If you decide to go that route, I have that intercooler I mentioned, I modified it to go around the leg, you'd need an Ali 90° bend, not sure what you'd need from there if your using the std boost hose, I cut my hard pipe and rotated it, and joined it with a hose.

Getting incredibly racked off with the last few details that are holding me up now, the car has been run-and-drive for god knows how long and its hold up after hold up to get the final bits back together.

The Sandero header tank will *not* mount in the drivers side wing, I did mount it but its now fouling the head of the bolt that holds the engine top rotation link which started wearing through the soft plastic. I've poked, prodded, turned and swivelled it and it wont sit in a good position. I got racked off with the whole thing and took an air saw to the AC pipes in the end, as thats been a mighty pain in the ass, but when I dropped the header tank down the bottom rad hose exit just fouls the main engine mount before its low enough to clear the rotation mount. I think I might take a trip to the breakers yard and shop around for something smaller, but the fact that several people seem to have mounted these its just irritating (I can only surmise they have left off the rotation link, which I dont want to do)
