Mk1 / Ph1 Mégane Cabriolet F4R-t conversion

Very small update. Just some pre MOT prep.

Turbo front pipe was also blowing from the join. So I've removed the studs, pulled the join apart, and replaced the OE gasket with a 2/3mm thick aftermarket one. Assuming the down pipe flange is a little warped.

New pads and discs on the rear. Excuse the state of the rough blue calipers. Eventually they'll all be stripped and painted black.

Next job will be to solidify this mount and get it fitted

Not really done anything with the rev counter yet. The aftermarket unit arrived so I'm going to have a play with that and see if I can maybe whip the gubbins out of it and fit them into my instrument cluster. (If it works correctly)

Aaaaaannnnnnd.........

There it is.
Fucking IMMO has come back on.

Time for it to go. Cant really be bothered parting it out so will take sensible offers on the whole car as one.

I think that’s a bit hasty surely..

I’m not stranger to hitting a problem and fucking the whole thing off, but I draw your attention back you your previous post

Chavey boost never gets boring. 🤣

I’d atleast talk to the guys who did the emulator and see what they say about it no.?

We have all been there.. But think about the amount of work you have put in. To throw the towel in over something like this would be crazy IMO.
Good luck with it.

My biggest issue is it's parked on the road. And it lives on the road.
MOT is due very soon (it was booked in for the morning)

My drive way isn't really an option unless it's running. The drive is steep and once a cars on there the side gate is blocked. And obviously a none running car can't be moved back off when I need access with the garden bin, my track bike etc.

It's really just a ball ache that couldn't have come at a shitter time.
Literally needed to get it MOTd tomorrow then it could have sat there for another 12 months no drama. 🙄

I have to agree, ive binned stuff of previously for an issue that i should of sorted and regretted it.

Id definitely see what the Julie people say as you have purchased something to do a job and its not doing it?

Well I've taken a gamble and just posted the ECU to Poland. 🤣
They've not asked for it. But we'll see what happens

Not sure what triggered it. Last week I did clear the fault codes down on the ECU. Before that point I'd only ever plugged in for live readings. (Rpm / temp etc)
But I'm not convinced it's that.

Still not overly interested in carrying on with it but we'll see what comes back from carlabimmo. If anything. 🙈

MOT runs out in 15 days. If I've not heard anything in 10, then it'll be getting stripped and parted out. As a car I'm only likely to see £500/£600 for it.
If I part it out the engines make that on their own.

I've had some info from them:

"The ECU couldn't go into sync (virgin), we had to enter the ECU code directly into the emulator's processor memory. That way it cannot get desynchronised. The service was provided free of charge due to a damaged soldering pad in the emulator. That's why our technicians felt it would be fair to provide this service for free."

Possibly good news. 🤷‍♂️

ECU is back on the car, and it now works again.
MOT is booked for next Monday, which I am fairly confident it'll sail through.

Big question is now, what is it worth? Realistically?
Engine and box need to come out for the JC5-128 box fitting once refreshed, a new cambelt kit, and a new clutch kit as it's not got anything more than a stock 172 Valeo in there at the moment.

I'm really tempted to sell it while it's working (Obviously passing on the knowlege that it could, one day, just decide to unsync again). Just makes it a logicstically easy sale, as it can be driven to it's new home.
Once it's got an MOT on it, I'm in no rush. It can just sit outside the house on the road, under a cover.

When can you collect?

I'll make sure it's MOT'd and washed for you.

make sure you bosh one of them nice air fresheners in too :D

In all seriousness im not sure where you would start with the pricing on this, its super cool. Are you not tempted to keep it?

I went for a drive with little man today, to my parents house to deliver something to them.
A little part of me did grin lots when turbo made boosty noises. My son absolutely fecking loves it. Calls it the 'Spider man car', and doesnt want me to sell it.
So I think, for now, once it's MOT'd, it's going under a decent car cover, and I will re-address it next year. I've got the rest of the British Mini Bikes Supermoto Championship to concentrate on between now and October. So I can't be pouring any more of my money into the Megane! The bikes are priority at the moment. :p
