Wanted Mint gt turbo phase 2 shell wanted

I have a gt turbo phase 2 and the floor and sills are totally rotten.
Rest of the car is good, and complete, so looking for a rust free shell please. I believe all 3 door shells are the same.
Help and avice appreciated.

Your best bet is a late model Campus or other base model shell (or complete car and strip it out)

Thats what im thinking, has anyone on here done this?
I believe legally, the log book will have to remain registered to the donor shell, so it wont say gt turbo.
Thanks

Could be wrong here but arent the rear arches a different shape on all other models to the GT Turbo so your going to have to do some fettling to get the rear bodykit arches on.

Is it a comete ballache to fit the kit?
Ive spotted a couple of really tidy garaged rust free examples for around £1400.
I really dont mind spending a good bit of time and money on getting a really mint gt turbo sorted.
Are there any really good engine rebuilders in the north west?
Thanks for the help

This gives you an idea of what the gt turbo arches are like compared to the campus ones in Adey's pics. As you can see they are rounded and not straight like the campus. No idea what's involved in modifying a campus but I'm sure its been done many times so someone will have some advice. Then again you say your sills are rotten, that's common and inners and outers are available so its not a massive job. How bad is your floor ?, for £1400 you may well be able to get your shell repaired and then you have a known good shell which should last another 20+ years. Plus its a true gt turbo and should you ever decide to sell the car it will be worth more.

Thanks for the info, very helpful.
I think I will look into getting my shell welded.
Does anyone know of a good company to do this in the north west?

I know of a couple of guys breaking GT Turbos currently and will have shell's available. A chap called Robert in Bristol and I think a guy called Ben in Birmingham who I visited last week to pick some some ph1 kits up. Let me know if you want their details, not sure what state the shells are in but it might be worth finding out.

We own a RHD brand new shell here, factory white, no panels.
The last one sold by Renault back in the 90's.
It's been in storage ever singe, no chassis stamps, but could be used to re-shell and swap the identity legitimately (enough orignal components kept).

It's possibly the only unused shell left in the world, so we'll be looking for a strong price.... perfect for the 'perfection' build.

Get some pictures up of the rot, inside and out, it'll give a better idea of what's involved, it certainly won't be the cost a campus plus the labour to swap everything over. If you're able to strip and retrim the car that will help keep the costs down. Regards fitting the kit to a campus shell, personally, it's better to bond it on in the normal fixing points, after all it's those points which is why they rot and why campus's don't.
Regards the vin, it's only rivited on and that's what mot'er will check, they can't check the stamped turret numbers if there's a strut brace covering them, not that I would suggest you do such a thing
Regards the shell difference, there's actually quite a few.
The rear arches, but they're only single skin so can be cut back to look the same, remember to paint the edge to protect from further rust.
There's also no mounting lugs on the sills for the side skirts, and if you get a campus with the door/qtr plastics they will have lugs that need to be removed.
There's an extra panel welded on the os inner wing which the anti perc fan outlet slides into.
The battery is on the other side, the campus doesn't have the battery tray, nor the holes for the tray to bolt into.
The front bulkhead panel has different holes, where the Gtt aei module bolts to, the perc fan solinoid brackets rivit on and where extra loom such as brake earth wires pass through.
The back bulkhead has an extra hole for the choke cable to go through.
The os turret has extra holes for the brake fluid reservoir bracket.
Also, you can swap all the other glass as they have seals but the front screen is bonded in, campus's have clear glass and Gtt's are green tinted, depends how genuine you want to make it.
Personally, save the Gtt. I'm near Liverpool if your stuck for someone to do the work, whichever way you want to go with it.

What do you call a strong price Sam?

Not sure at the moment really. Need to discuss it, It may only be worth £700 to somebody, or £2500 to somebody else.
We had the last two shells, the other was used to reshell a cup car which we still have - its pretty mint, it probably only did a season with the new shell before being put in storage. That will be for sale too soon - we need the space.
