Marks RX7 - lets break a rotary.

I had a similar issue with a 21 coolant sensor once, I ran new wiring from the sensor to the ECU and chopped in the wires a few cm from the ECU plug. Fixed the problem, so at least I knew it was the wiring tied into the harness.

When the ECU comes back tested this week and more than likely completely fine. Im going to ask him to change the power source of the dash and the lambda sensor to the ECU rather than the PDU. (10 mins job)

If that doesn’t work he will either have to make a small sub harness just for lambda OR open the whole loom up and fix that way.

Pain in the arse either way.

Unfortunately Mr Bond the car is testing my every last nerve.

Still been unable to solve the lambda issue as well as the dash turning off and to make things worse I now have a consistent misfire which I’m trying to solve. Awaiting new coils from US.

Also not helped by my garage door failing so waiting for them to come fix that too. It’s taken a back step for the time being to save my own sanity.

Ah man. It must be good when it works or you would have thrown in the towel by now!

I’m too deep to give in although I’d like to but for the time being it can stay locked away so I don’t have to think about it.

I have a new job starting in 2 weeks and a nice week in Zante at the end of May. I’ll get back into it when the times right.

I know it sounds a bit OTT but the last few months it’s put me under so much stress I just started to get ill, it’s not worth it.

I understand where you are coming from. Shut the garage, forget the car and return when you want to!

Sad that it’s making you ill Mark, stress is very unhealthy.

Take a step back and get yourself sorted. The car will always be there 👍

Thanks all, yes I’ll get back to it eventually.

I really don’t like to or mean to play the victim but I can’t catch a break with this project and it’s hugely frustrating when you are reliant on other people who do not meet your own high standards.

The latest debacle is the M&W coils that I’ve had to buy from USA have been stuck for 7 days with DHL with zero understanding by them as to why.

Syvecs nor the wiring guy seem able to explain why the lambda fault exists, same with the dash power issue. I chose these people and companies as they are supposed to be the “best” when it turns out that are flawed too.

If it made any sense financially I would part with the car at this point and do something different. I know a lot gets says about the finance brigade and his whole built vs bought thing but at 45years old there’s a lot to be said for a monthly payment and a nice stock 911 or something of that nature, I can see my taking this route next.

Until then it can stay locked in the garage until I find some kind of love for it again.

I had to get a lockup for the Evo for a while after it jumped off the dyno and killed the exhaust (flattened a Blitz Nur-Spec R), it was the last straw after all the setbacks I had with the car.

At the time my mum was in hospital dying too, so I just couldn't be arsed with cars, let alone fixing them.

The problem was, the longer it sat in the lockup, the more I realised that I just didn't want / need it anymore.

I toyed with the idea of stripping it for parts, but ultimately I couldn't even get the motivation to break it.

So in the end I just put it up for sale and waited the 18 months for the right buyer to come along. In that time I put a new exhaust on it (only for the Turbo to fail 20 miles later), so I put a new (better) turbo on, tweaked the map and it was quicker (maybe I hoped the new turbo and extra power would make me love it again, but it made no difference).

Sometimes no matter what you do, the project just doesn't go to plan, even when you get all the correct parts, correct companies or people working on it, it can still go to shit, and the setbacks eventually add up. Sometimes in the end it's better to just call it a day, to get your life back.

That was 13 years ago now, and tbh I have prob missed it a handful of times, but never for more than a few mins at a time.

Developing cars is a long, frustrating and, depending on your luck expensive process. Personally I have a love hate relationship with it. When it's going right, I love it. When it's going wrong, I hate it.
It never gets easier, as the demands you place on yourself get increasingly complex, as indeed the vehicle does.
Who wants a standard 911 anyway? well maybe a1970 2.7 Carrera RS replica with a 3.6 with twin plug heads cams Weber triples.......... You know the rest.

To add insult to injury the tax man raped me for an extra £2k this month and now the garage door is broken too.

So I called a local garage repair place.

It all started so well, the guy turned up, took a look, said he could fix it but needed to order a few parts. His office called 20 mins later with a quote which I thought was a bit steep at £500 but the fact he said he could come and fix it this last Tuesday just gone made me say yes and guess what?? Haven’t heard from them since, you couldn’t make this shit up.

So currently can’t even get the car out if I wanted to.

Now awaiting others to pitch up and take a look.

It seems I attract absolute retards constantly.

They are everywhere Mark. They walk amongst us with their mouths open shuffling around.

I’d buy them all a plant to walk around with and make them apologise to it for wasting the very oxygen the plant produced.

Stupid people are like dead people. They don’t know it , but they are.

Don’t let people or cars bring you down. You are not one of those.

very similar story from my mate Karl, hes spend an inordinate amount of time and money building an evo powered, 600hp Proton Jumbuck, and he's had the luck of the devil with it. Its still not right, after over a decade.

Yes this has been 5 years in the making so far and this was supposed to be “the” year for it to be finished in all its glory.

Oh well, what’s the rush 😂
